STEWART  \nGreetings , Sacred Heart Families!  \nWe are now in the second Friday of Lent , and I see everywhere how prayer, almsgiving , and fasting are being practiced and bearing fruit. Most of our students gather once a week for a Holy Hour during which time we pray as a group or individually. During Lent , we follow that with Stations of the Cross. And one class at a time stays for the Sacrament of Reconciliation either after the Holy Hour or Mass. I encourage our families to start praying together daily during Lent , if you don’t already. If it’s not your week to work the Fish Fry, how about bringing the family to the parish Stations of the Cross? It’s a powerful experience. More info on that in the pages below.  \nOur children give alms through acts of service , such as when our 8th Graders cleared plates , delivered pans of food , and helped elsewhere last week at the Fish Fry. It is wonderful to see them helping others as a group! Students also share with me what they are giving up for Lent , and I’m amazed at the sacrifices they are making.  \nSpeaking of Fish Fry, it is also wonderful to see you working alongside each other to serve the community! The students also challenged the 7th Grade to a Cursive Handwriting Contest – teachers and staff will vote next week.
