This national competition invites you to move from being a consumer of technology to a creator of digital solutions. \nWorking in a team of two, and supported by one teacher mentor, you will identify a real challenge in your school community and use Canva, Canva AI and Canva Code to design, build, test and improve an interactive digital application that makes a genuine difference. \nThis guidebook explains everything you need to know: the categories you can enter, the innovation framework you' ll follow, the responsible use of AI, the timeline, how to register and submit, and how projects are judged. \n2. About the Competition \nThe Canva Digital Creator Challenge 2026 is organised by the Educational Resources and Technology Division ( Bahagian Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan – BSTP), Ministry of Education Malaysia ( MOE), in collaboration with Canva Education, Using Technology Better ( UTB) and the State Educational Technology Resource Sectors (SSTP). \nThe competition supports the aspirations of the Malaysia Education Plan 2026–2035 by strengthening future-ready skills — creativity, innovation, problem solving and the responsible use of AI. \nThe competition is open to students of educational institutions under MOE, across four categories: \n\n| CATEGORY | LEVEL | STUDENT GROUP |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| | | |\n| Category A | Primary School | Mainstream Students |\n| | | |\n\nPrimary School \nCategory B \nStudents with Special Educational Needs (MBPK) \n\n| Category C | Secondary School | Mainstream Students |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n\n| Category D | Secondary School | Students with Special Educational Needs (MBPK) |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n\n3. The Innovation Framework \nEvery team progresses through five stages. Document your journey at each stage —judges look for evidence of genuine thinking, not just a finished product. \n0 1 \nDISCOVER → \nSTAGE 0 1 \nDISCOVER \nIdentify a real problem in your school community. Talk to students, teachers or staff affected by it. Write down what you observe —this becomes the foundation of your project. \n0 2 IDEATE \n→ \n0 3 CREATE \n→ \n0 4 TEST \nSTAGE 0 2 \nIDEATE \nGenerate several possible solutions before choosing one. Use the \"How Might We?\"template toreframe your problem as an opportunity, and select the idea your team believes will create the most im act \np . \nSTAGE 0 3 CREATE \nBuild your interactive digital application using Canva, Canva AI and Canva Code. Use the Storyboard template to plan your app's structure before you start building. \nSTAGE 0 4 \nTEST \nShare your app with real users —classmates, teachers, or the people affected by the problem. Record feedback on the User Testing Form and use it to improve your app. \nSTAGE 0 5 \nIMPACT \nPresent and defend your project. Be ready to explain the problem you solved, the decisions you made, and the real-world impact your app can have. \n4. Responsible Use of AI \nAI is a powerful creative partner — but the thinking must be yours.
