As you will know this issue, with its focus on festival performances and spectacles that took place in courts, great houses and cities across Early Modern Europe, and their legacy, is planned as a tribute to the late J. R. (Ronnie) Mulryne.\nWe are grateful to those of you who have already submitted abstracts in advance of the deadline of 30 March 2020. We are, of course, mindful of the current circumstances and fully understand that a number of those who would have wanted to submit abstracts may well not now be able to access research libraries and archives to finalise these before the end of this month (although, of course, some materials are available on line).\nRather than extending the deadline, we are asking all those who have already expressed an interest and/or had planned to submit an abstract to send a brief abstract – in effect, an outline of what you would hope to be able to submit as an article in the summer? With these brief outline abstracts, along with short cvs, we should be able to see what the overall structure of the contents might look like.\nOn the basis of these outline submissions the editorial board will notify acceptance of papers by 19 April 2020 as planned and will send out further instructions for the appropriate style to be followed in the submission of articles, along with a template. Circumstances beyond our control may well lead to some extensions on the final submissions (currently requested by 19 July).\nJust to remind you, articles should not exceed 35,000-40,000 characters, spaces included. The accepted languages are Italian, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Up to 10 images at a resolution of 300 dpi can be included. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain written permission for publication of any images that are copyright protected. Written permission must be submitted with the article.\nPlease do take care and keep safe in what are, at least in living memory, unprecedented circumstances.","cbCaifnvaGA2BSX3","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifnvaGA2BSX3","docx",14111,"English","# Key Update on the Call for Papers\n## Submission Outline Abstract and Deadline Context\n## Editorial Board Timelines and Submission Requirements","[{\"question\":\"What action is requested from authors who were planning to submit an abstract?\",\"answer\":\"Send a brief abstract outline describing what they hope to submit as an article in the summer, along with a short CV.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the planned acceptance and final submission dates?\",\"answer\":\"The editorial board will notify acceptance by 19 April 2020, and final submissions are currently requested by 19 July.\"},{\"question\":\"What submission requirements and constraints apply to articles?\",\"answer\":\"Articles should not exceed 35,000–40,000 characters (including spaces).
