It feels selfish to make something like this , but at the same time it feels so freeing & I hope to inspire other people to see the possibilities of vulnerability & expression in creating art. I riffled through my archive and found things that showed me I’ve always been the truest version of myself through my art , so I wanted to memorialize my journey through finding myself and embracing my inner artist that I’ve sometimes ignored or repressed. This Issue is my homage to my experience of life , with fresh eyes and an open heart-no more hiding who I am and what I love. \nI want to thank all the incredible , amazing , talented people that I call my friends-I can’t put into words how much it means to me that I’ve been able to see art in everyone’s medium whether it be music or photos or film or other zines or drawing or painting or poetry or the many other amazing mediums. Having a community of creators has made me feel at place in my creativity more than anything else and I’m so grateful to live my life on a path of artistry and creation as a passion & pursuit. \nI love y’all so so much and I wish y’all the best in every future endeavor \nWith that , I present Beauty in Bloom Issue 2: Electric Boogaloo aka \nMy Life through A Kaleidoscope \n Much love , JZ xo \nTable of Contents \nWhat little I remember from being a child , mostly sparked through photos and stories from my mum \nBeing an adult with free will meansbeing able to do things for shits and giggles whenever you want to simply because it makes you happy . \nThe times when I was stuck in my room 24/7 so I started writing more and being myself unobserved for the first time. \nLong Live Hello Kitty! \nIn all honesty, I don’t remember that specific Hello Kitty shirt but Ido remember my love for Hello Kitty 100% . \nHello Kitty was a huge part of my childhood, we’re talking Hello Kitty birthday party, Hello Kitty DS games and best of all Squinkies . Specifically this little pool set \nShoutout my terrible fringe from a time before my hair got curly. I do not miss it. \n2000's & 2010's fashion was peak kids clothes tbh \nRip Squinkies You are missed \n1 \nIf you’re sitting asking \n“Did you seriously give yourself bunny ears?”Yes, of course I did because who else was going to hmm? \nMy soundtrack of being young and free: \nWild and Free \nPhotos circa roughly 2007 \nAge 3 ish \n(music my parents played growing up that was worth remembering) \nChanges by David Bowie Heroes by David Bowie Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks Rebel Rebel by David Bowie Barracuda by Heart \nHungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran Don’t Bring Me Down by Electric Light Orchestra \nLove Shack by The B-52's \nRaspberry Beret by Prince \nJust Like Heaven by The Cure \nAbracadabra by Steve Miller Band \n(Don’t Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult aka my mom’s ringtone for my dad so I’ve heard the \nglorious ring of a cowbell for many, many years ina single 30 second snippet \nEverybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears for Fears \nMe and a strawberry“bigger than my head” \n2 \nStickers! \nStickers! \nStickers! \nIf you give a girl a sticker, she will wear it with unwarranted pride \nor put it on the nearest surface tbh \nPhotos circa \n2008-2013 Age 4-9 \nSticker fiend since birth \nNobody can stop me now tho >:) \nPhoto circa 2005 Age 1 4 \nWait wait wait. \nWhat in the ever loving fuck do you mean I grew up , hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?? \n5 \nWas I not literally a child yesterday? \nI didn’t get a chrysalis or nothin >:( \nI swear I just woke up with the existential dread one day \n6 \nWords \nI have never been good with words. \nThey fester in my head And spill out on their own. I try and put them on paper But they scramble as they fall. \nThey turn into a mess that I can't seem to fix.
