When a pupil is frequently absent, late or picked up early from school, they lose valuable learning time. Excellent attendance is necessary for children to succeed in school - at our school we want to stress the importance of punctuality and regular attendance with our families. From September 2021, attendance and punctuality will be something we are looking to improve and we will be holding parents/carers to account for their child’s attendance. \nIt is our expectation that our pupils attend school 100% of the time and we strive for the best! However, we appreciate that in certain circumstances this may not be possible. Absences will only be authorised if they are caused by genuine illness or because of‘exceptional circumstances’. Any application for a term time absence caused by exceptional circumstances must be made in writing to the Headteacher, at least four weeks prior to the event (if possible) . The application will be considered by the Headteacher and a response provided as soon as possible. In the case of illness, school may ask parents/carers to produce a doctor’s note especially in cases of extended or regular absence. From September, if your child is absent and the reason has not been communicated with the school, you will be contacted by Mr Doyle. This may result in a home visit. A list of‘exceptional circumstances’will be included in our new attendance policy which will be shared with parents/carers shortly. \nSchool will be regularly monitoring all pupil’s attendance. If your child’s attendance was to fall below the national average (96.1%) or if there was a pattern to their absence, our school will start procedures to address this. A full copy of our new attendance policy will be shared on the school website and via Class Dojo over the Summer break. Please expect regular communication regarding your child’s attendance if they are absent. \nIn September, our school day will start, promptly, at 9:00am and it is our expectation that the children arrive from 8:45am (when our gates open), ready to start their lessons at 9:00am. The school gates will be closed at 9:00am. To enter the school after this time you will need to ring the bell and sign your child in via the school office. Please make sure that you are on time. \nIt is vital that the children need to be picked up promptly; this will be at 3:15pm for all pupils next academic year. As a result of new guidance, some of the measures we have put in place because of COVID will not be in place in September -this includes the staggered pick-up. All children will be pocked up at the same time-3:15pm. Any early collections must be authorised in advance by the Headteacher or a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team. A doctors appointment letter must be provided for medical appointments. If you child misses 30 minutes of school a \nday due to punctuality or as a result of being picked up early, this equates to 97.5 hours a year (the equivalent to 15 whole days in school) being missed! \nParents/carers have a legal duty to ensure that children of compulsory school age attend on a regular and full time basis. We will be having a huge push on this next year! We want (and need) your children in school if we are to do our jobs properly and educate them effectively! \nParents/carers-we want you to… \n• understand the importance of good attendance and punctuality to the educational, social and emotional welfare of your child. \n• ensure that your child is in school, ready to start their first lesson at 9:00am. The school gates open at 8:45am. \n• inform us of any absence, as early as possible, on the day of absence. \n• ensure that the contact details on our records are kept up to date - including new mobile numbers. \n• m","cbCaihxjpUzC9W8G","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihxjpUzC9W8G","pdf",10132419,"English","# Attendance expectations\n## Authorised absence and applications\n## Monitoring and communication\n# School routines\n## Arrival times and late entry\n## Pickup times and early collection\n# Attendance levels and impact\n## Rewards, benefits, and consequences","[{\"question\":\"What counts as authorised absence from school?\",\"answer\":\"Absences will be authorised only when caused by genuine illness or exceptional circumstances.
