Coroner positions:  \n􀀁 Senior Coroner;  \n􀀁 Area Coroner; and  \n􀀁 Assistant Coroner.  \nTwo evaluations have been produced for the Assistant Coroner to reflect the alternative knowledge, skills and experience requirements that are described in the job description.  \nOur Approach  \nIn order to evaluate the roles, we have:  \n􀀁 Shadowed the Senior, Area and Assistant Coroner in Manchester West;  \n􀀁 Shadowed the Senior, Area and Assistant Coroner in Woking;  \n􀀁 Interviewed eighteen Coroners from a variety of roles and parts of the country;  \n􀀁 Produced draft job descriptions to test our understanding of the roles; and  \n􀀁 Agreed these job descriptions with the JNC for Coroners.  \nWe include the terms of reference below which set out the scope of services, as drafted in the letter of engagement, agreed by all parties.  \nTerms of Reference  \nSCOPE OF SERVICES  \nOur Understanding of Your Needs  \nTo provide the Joint Negotiating Committee for Coroners (England & Wales) with an objective and independent review of the role of coroners to enable both parties to negotiate base pay levels for these roles.  \nOur Response to Your Needs  \nWe agreed that this work would include three inter-related activities that would enable a comprehensive review of the role of coroners.
