The plan aims to help researchers reflect on their objectives, identify pathways to achieving longer-term research aspirations, and support career development. It also facilitates critical reflection on available support, the identification of partners, collaborators, and funding sources, and the review and enhancement of research output and impact profiles. Furthermore, it encourages contemplation on contributions to the collective ambition and research environment of the research division and the University of Aberdeen (UoA). Such plans are expected to be completed annually and shared with Research Division Leads (RDLs), line managers, Heads of School (HoS), Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Research (APVCs), and relevant Research Development and Impact Development Managers to ensure optimal research support and foster a collaborative research environment. The plan should ideally be discussed as part of a Personal Development Review (PDR) but discussions with mentors and peers are also encouraged. RDLs will utilize these Annual Research Plans (ARPs) to inform their Research Division Operational Plans (RDOPs), which outline divisional priorities that can influence the allocation of support and funding, thereby contributing to the strategic and financial planning of Schools and the University.","Annual Research Plan\nFor the period 2025/26 to 2027/28\nThis is a template to help you set out your research plan for the next 12 months by:\nProviding space for you to reflect on your objectives.\nProviding you with a framework to help you identify a path to achieving your longer-term research aspirations and to support your career development.\nHelping you to reflect on the support available to you and how you will use it.\nHelping you to identify partners, collaborators and sources of funding.\nHelping you to review and build on your research output and impact profile.\nHelping you to reflect on how you can contribute to your research division’s (and UoA’s) collective ambition and research environment.\nIt is expected that research plans are completed on an annual basis by all staff on T&R and Research-only contracts at grade 7 and above, including those on fixed-term contracts. They will be shared with Research Division Leads (RDL), line managers, HoS, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellors for Research (APVCs) and the relevant Research Development Manager and Impact Development Manager in order to provide the best possible support for your research and to foster a collaborative research environment. As a minimum, you should expect to discuss your research plan with your RDL and your line manager, ideally as part of your PDR, but you are encouraged to discuss your plans with others, including mentors and peers.\nRDLs will draw on Annual Research Plans (ARPs) to inform their Research Division Operational Plans (RDOPs), which set out the research division’s priorities and can influence
