The first page shows each part of the project that will becompleted and provides a spot to write due dates and check off once completed. The rest ofthe notebook walks students through each process including exploring interests, narrowingdown a topic, finding and recording sources, writing research notes, forming a hypothesis, writing a step-by-step process, recording data and results, and forming a conclusion. Eachproject “checkpoint” page has a place to write the due date and a place for the teacher toinitial once completed. This notebook is a fabulous resource to help students to keep track oftheir projects and make the entire process more meaningful. \n## 2) Project Rubric (page 18)\n\nThe Project Rubric breaks down each part of the Science Project process and shows studentswhat is expected at each “checkpoint”. It also shows students how much each part of theproject is worth. Iliketo include a copy of the rubric inside the Science Project Notebook somy students can see how important each part of the project is. I also like to copy the rubricon the back of the Parent Letter so parents are aware of the weight of each part of theproject. \n## 3) Teacher Checklist (page 19)\n\nThe teacher checklist is an easy way to keep track of who has turned in what. The page has \n20 spots for student names, so depending on class size you may need more than one copy. \n## 4) Project Board Labels (pages 21-25)\n\nI’ve included 3 different label designs for student use. I like to provide these to lighten theload on parents / help families who do not have the resources to print or provide labels. \n## 5) Parent Letter (page 26)\n\nThe parent letter includes an area to make parents aware of project checkpoints and duedates. The bottom part of the letter has a place for student name and parent signature. Ilike to make sure my parents receive the notes Isend home, which is why I’ve added thispart to the letter. 􀀡 \n## HELPFUL HINTS\n\n- I designed the Science Project Notebook to print on both sides of the paper (copierinstructions are usually “1 page to 2 page”) . \n- The Science Project Notebook includes a blank page (page 2) . Although you do not have toinclude this page, if you leave it out, the page numbers will be out of order andthe researchnotes, procedure pages, and data pages will be front to back, rather than side by side (whichis much easier for student use) . If you don’t like wasting paper, move the project rubric topage 2. 􀀡 \n- I like to print the project board labels on colored paper to help add a little more pizzazz tostudent projects. \n- ENJOY! I hope this pack makes keeping up with student projects easier on you, and more funfor your students!! \nnotebook \nScientist’s name \nclass \nThis page intentionally left blank. \n## science projectdue dates\n\n\n| Due date | |\n| --- | --- |\n| Possible science fair projects … … … ... … page 3 | ☐ |\n| Research notes & Source log … … .......... page 4-5 | ☐ |\n| my science fair topic … … … … … … … ......... … ..
