Students are not required to complete these TAPs but they can be assignments or demonstrate to Facilitators and STLs the types of TAPs which can be accomplished in GenYES.
Work with IT Staff to Make Sure Good Search Engines are Available for Troubleshooting
This TAP has STLs creating a bookmark collection for their school. This can be done using traditional browser-specific bookmarks, or an online service or extension, such as [booky.io](booky.io) or Xmarks.
TAP Description: We will inventory all the technology in the school and then make sure that we have set up troubleshooting and repair bookmarks for each piece of technology. This will make sure that both we and the IT staff have a customized online library for how to fix all the technology we have in our school.

| Citation Research and Program Installation
STLs do research and write a proposal for their IT person in this TAP.
TAP Description: I will research different browser extensions, apps, and programs that can make citations (for example, [http://www.easybib.com/](http://www.easybib.com/)) . Then, I will write a proposal for the IT person on the best program and see if we can install it on the school computers. That way, it will be easy for every student to cite their sources. |
| --- |
| Investigating Ad Blockers
STLs will research IT-specific information in this TAP regarding ad blockers and cookie settings.
TAP Description: I will find out what ad blocker or filter that my school already uses. Then, I’ll research some different ad blockers and Cookie settings that help keep user information private. I’ll present these ideas to my IT person, and if they want, I’ll help configure our browser Cookie settings or install ad blockers on the school computers. |

Work with a teacher to backup their devices
The STL may need to procure hardware to complete this TAP. They will need to find the appropriate device to back up a teacher's files to. Cloud applications (Google Drive, Dropbox, Onedrive, etc) are easy tools to back up files.
TAP Description: I will contact a teacher and arrange a time to discuss backing up their important files. I will see if using a USB, external hard drive, or cloud storage system works best for the teacher.

| Stopping Cyberbullying at My School
STLs go on an investigative mission in this TAP to find out what happens when cyberbullying occurs at their school.
TAP Description: I am going to schedule a meeting with one ot the IT staff that services our school. I will ask this person if there are any technical ways the district or school are using to monitor school software and Internet use for cyberbullying. What happens when a student is identified as a cyberbully? I’ll report back to my GenYES class what I found out. |
| --- |
| G Suite for Education
Google Drive and Google’s apps are just the beginning of what Google offers. G Suite for Education is Google’s offering for schools, and it includes more cloud storage than personal Gmail accounts have, custom .edu email addresses, Google Classroom, and more. This TAP involves the STL doing research and working with their IT person to get G Suite for Education working at their school.
TAP Description: I’ll research G Suite for Education and determine what kinds of information our school needs to set it up. Then, I’ll meet with my IT person and we can go over G Suite for Education together and determine how to implement it. I’ll help the IT person get accounts set up for everyone and make sure teachers have access to Google Classroom. |

Creating a technology F.A.Q.
IT Staff members get bogged down with simple questions from teachers and students, such as “how do I reset my password?” or “how do I log into this software again?” The STL will meet with the IT staff person and ask about the most common","cbCaibOedts5IGIU","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibOedts5IGIU","pdf",571934,45,"English","# IT Support Technology Assistance Projects (TAPs) from GenYES Do Modules
## Troubleshooting bookmarks for school technology
## Citation tool research and program installation proposal
## Investigating ad blockers and cookie privacy settings
## Backing up teacher devices
## Stopping cyberbullying through technical investigation
## G Suite for Education setup research and implementation
## Creating a technology F.A.Q. resource
## Giving feedback to IT staff and tech coordinators on software choices
## Creating custom logos and icons for school website and login dashboard
## Installing digital art software
## Choosing an animation maker for the school","[{"question":"What are these IT Support Technology Assistance Projects (TAPs) used for in GenYES?","answer":"They are example TAPs from the Do Modules in the GenYES curriculum.
