After the agenda was amended and approved unanimously, Dan welcomed our guests, who did not have any immediate questions. \nDan proceeded with his report: \n- which was an overview of the semester thus far \n- this has been a better semester than the preceding ones with no grievances \n- although negotiations are going at a slow pace \n- also, our relations with the deans seem to be much better \n- last semester they were very combative \n- but this semester they have changed and are polite and responsive \n- in the Photo Department there was a problem for one adjunct \n- fortunately the department chair was polite and made the necessary correction \nPete Virgadamo asked about our relations with the Vice President of HR \n- Dan said that he has worked with Miranda Zamudo \n- on various campus issues \n- there is an open connection and that their one-on-one the talks have been very casual \nDan concluded his report by saying that overall it has been a quiet semester. \nAaron Silverman – Vice President of Negotiations \n- his report focused on progress with negotiations \n- last week we agreed with COC on MOUs for out-of-cycle evaluations \n- adjuncts can have a 3rd evaluation to stay in the pool Dan – stated this as not to punish the adjunct \n- but to benefit them \n- to work with chairs to improve their teaching \n2 \nAaron – which is best for the students \n- we do not want adjuncts in the classroom \n- who are badly underperforming \n- the 3rd evaluation can come after two bad previous evaluations \n- and can be done out-of-cycle Anthony Clayton – can an adjunct request it? \nAaron and Kelly Spillman – that is an interesting question \n- it is possible to do \n- they have the right to do that Aaron – spoke about the number of adjunct evaluations \n- there are so many and it is a heavy workload \n- for the full-time faculty \n- adjuncts can do it \n- but the full-timers never ask us \n- it would help to solve the problem \n- but the issue is that the full-timers do not want to give up the power \nAnthony – would we be compensated? Aaron – Yes, at the non-instructional rate \nAaron – continued with his report on the negotiations \n- since January, no articles have been agreed upon \n- this is due to the slow pace IBB process \n- but at our next session we will complete our work on evaluations \n- which is Article 8 and will result in simplified forms \n- we also agreed on assignment rights \n- which is Article 6 \n- we tightened up the language and closed some loopholes \nAaron – plus we talked about office hours \n- paid and not paid \n- not paid work is illegal under state law \n- to demand unpaid labor is a violation of our labor laws \n- one solution is to cut the required office hours in half \n3 \nAaron-and we increased the number of FLEX hours \n- another issue is online training and compensation for it \n- but so far the mood is still cordial \n- that can change as soon as we approach talking about compensation \nAaron – the new contract \n- probably will not be signed in December \n- although COC wants it to be \nAaron – also spoke about the surveys \n- sent out by John \n- on the issue of training \n- 30 adjuncts replied \n- COC says it is about 2 hours \n- but the adjuncts say it is actual about 5 hours \n- and they are not being paid for it \n- he asked that John resend the survey on office hours \n- one question was incorrect, so please resend it \nAaron – ended his report with the schedule of our next negotiation meetings \n- we will have one meeting in November \n- and two in December \n- ","cbCaihPF56YdUoxn","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaihPF56YdUoxn","pdf",54987,"English","# Executive Board Meeting Minutes\n## Open Session Overview\n## Negotiations and Contract Updates\n## BIT Team and Student Safety Process\n## Membership Outreach and Social Event","[{\"question\":\"What were the main topics of the president’s report?\",\"answer\":\"The president reviewed the semester, highlighted improved relations with deans, described an adjunct-related issue in the Photo Department and its resolution, discussed HR relationship context, and concluded that the semester was generally quiet.\"},{\"question\":\"What negotiation items were discussed during the negotiations vice president’s report?\",\"answer\":\"Progress on negotiations was reported, including MOUs for out-of-cycle evaluations, the possibility of a third evaluation for adjuncts, simplified forms tied to Article 8, assignment rights under Article 6, office hours (paid and not paid), increased FLEX hours, and the status of the new contract and surveys.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the meeting describe the BIT Team process for threats on campus?\",\"answer\":\"The discussion explains how faculty can contact the BIT Team through a specific submission form, notes response times, contrasts it with chair/dean escalation limits, and highlights the goal of faster action to ban students when threats or disruption occur.\"}]","AFT Local 6262 - Executive Board Meeting Minutes - October 25, 2025 | PDF",1789258852]
