The objective is for participants, working in small groups assigned to specific Action Areas and Vision Statements, to brainstorm feasible actions without immediate consideration for cost or practicality. The activity guides facilitators in dividing participants, assigning note-takers, and structuring the brainstorming process, which includes individual idea generation followed by group sharing and recording on an easel pad using a provided template. Prompts are offered to encourage diverse perspectives, considering different community actors, types of actions (e.g., infrastructure, policy, community-based), and addressing root causes of inequity. The suggested duration for this activity is 45 minutes to 1 hour, requiring materials such as action area lists, vision statements, brainstorming templates, writing implements, and an easel pad.",{"@graph":14,"@context":73},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/","Template",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/general/","General",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/actions-brainstorming-activity/167811/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/actions-brainstorming-activity/167811.png","ImageObject",442,249,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Bintang","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document","2026-09-28","2026-08-31",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",9,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"What Brainstorming Activity\nOverview\nObjective\nTo work with other members of your community to come up with an exhaustive list of possible actions that could be taken for your community to improve equity and hazard resilience.\nPreparation\nWho will be involved: community participants, facilitators\nSuggested activity length: 45 minutes-1 hour\nMaterials: list of Action Areas and Vision Statements, Action Brainstorming Templates (below), writing materials, easel pad, paper\nExample of Completed Action Brainstorming\nActions Area Brainstorming\nInstructions\nDivide the participants into groups, one for each Action Area. People can choose groups based on their interests. Each group should have a minimum of 3-5 people (may vary depending on number of action areas, time available). Assign a notetaker.\nStart by taking a few moments to familiarize yourselves with the action area and vision statement you are collaborating on.\nNext, everyone takes two minutes to write down actions they think could help achieve the vision statement on individual sheets of paper.\nAt this point you are just brainstorming, not thinking about feasibility, cost, etc.\nYou do not need to provide details. That will be done next.\nThen, everyone shares their actions. The note-taker records them on an easel pad, using the template below to categorize the ideas. If you need additional prompts, consider:\nWhat ideas do you think of if you put yourself in the shoes of different actors in the community? (e.g., local youth, city councilperson/mayor, homeowner)\nWhat different types of actions that could be taken, for example infrastructure, policy, government, community, or household actions? Often, resilience projects focus on infrastructure and engineering, but there are many other types of actions that focus on supporting aspects of community life.\nWhat actions address the root causes of inequities, not just the symptoms?\nActions Brainstorming Template","cbCaijPDfRqQlh52","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijPDfRqQlh52","docx",54805,"English","# Actions Brainstorming Activity\n## Overview\n## Objective\n## Preparation\n## Instructions","[{\"question\":\"What is the primary objective of the Actions Brainstorming Activity?\",\"answer\":\"The objective is to collaborate with community members to create an exhaustive list of potential actions that can be implemented to improve equity and hazard resilience within the community.\"},{\"question\":\"What materials are required for this activity?\",\"answer\":\"Materials include a list of Action Areas and Vision Statements, Action Brainstorming Templates, writing materials, an easel pad, and paper.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the recommended duration for the Actions Brainstorming Activity?\",\"answer\":\"The suggested activity length is 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the number of action areas and available time.\"}]","Actions Brainstorming Activity | DOCX"]
