Please use Dear Veteran for all veteran letters and Dear Hero, Dear Service Member, Dear Troops, etc. for active duty members. \nAdults, middle and high school students should write letters on paper using the following guidelines: \n1. Letters can be written on any kind of plain or decorated paper or stationary. Lined is best but not required. \n2. All letters are required to contain a minimum of FIVE (5) full sentences. \n3. Write neat and legible; no typing. \n4. No religious or political references. \n5. Sign first name only \n6. Do not fold your letters; they should be mailed flat. \n7. We do not use envelopes!! We cannot stress this enough. Please do not put your letters in individual envelopes. \n8. Do not use glitter, confetti, or loose decorations \nIf you are feeling creative, get out your crayons, markers or colored pencils! The troops love decorated letters! \nElementary students can make cards or write letters appropriate for their writing ability using the following guidelines: \n1. Letters can be written on any kind of paper or stationary; cards can be made with any kind of paper or cardstock. \n2. No religious or political references. \n3. Sign first name and age or grade. \n4. Do not fold your letters; they should be mailed flat. \n5. We do not use envelopes!! We cannot stress this enough. Please do not put your letters in individual envelopes. \n6. Do not use glitter, confetti, or loose decorations \n© 2025 A Million Thanks Inc. All rights reserved. \nABOUT NOTECARDS \nWe understand that many businesses prefer to use cards for letter-writing. However, cards take up about 75% more volume in our flat-rate shipping boxes due to thickness. Since most corporate groups use them, this has significantly increased our postage expenses. If you would like to make a donation to offset these expenses check with us before you write your letters. \nIn order to reduce postage expenses we are limiting cards to K-5 students. \nCAN MY LOGO APPEAR ON MY LETTERS? \nYes! As a Letter Sponsor, your logo can appear on every letter you write. You can sponsor your own letters or extend your impact by sponsoring classrooms or youth clubs. \nCOMPLIANT VS NON-COMPLIANT LETTERS \nThe \\#1 reason letters end up in the recycle bin is that they are too short. Letters with just a short sentiment will not be delivered. Please write more than,“Thank you for your service.” Our military risks their lives for our freedom. Tell them why you are thankful! \nSample letters can be found here: [amillionthanks.org/samples](amillionthanks.org/samples) \nLETTER DONATION FORM \nYou will be asked to report an accurate number of veteran and service member letters being mailed, not an estimate. You will also be asked to estimate the number of volunteers who participated in letter writing. These numbers are reported to the IRS for in-kind donations. \nThe date your letters will be postmarked should not be an arbitrary date. It should be the actual date your letters are mailed. \nAfter you or your group has finished writing, sorting and counting your letters, please visit [https://amillionthanks.org/register](https://amillionthanks.org/register) to complete our IRS letter donation form. \nMAILING ADDRESS \nOnce you submit the Letter Donation Form, you will receive our mailing address in your confirmation email. \n© 2025 A Million Thanks Inc. All rights reserved. \nCHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS \nWe do not receive as many donations as you might think. Please consider the financial resources we need to buy supplies and ship your letters. Our organization is run by one full-time volunteer. Every penny you donate goes directly to sustaining our letter program. \nHOLIDAY MAIL DEADLINES \nWe’ll gladly accept letters mailed after the holiday deadline. We mail letters to service members and veterans all year long, so timeless messages of gratitude are always welcome.","cbCainMWbBTDHQoD","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainMWbBTDHQoD","pdf",523566,"English","# A MILLION THANKS® Letter Writing Guide\n## Letters vs Cards\n## Adult, Middle, and High School Rules\n## Elementary Student Guidelines\n## About Notecards\n## Logo on Letters\n## Compliant vs Non-Compliant Letters\n## Letter Donation Form\n## Mailing Address\n## Charitable Contributions\n## Holiday Mail Deadlines\n## What to Say in Your Letters","[{\"question\":\"What greeting should I use for different audiences?\",\"answer\":\"Use “Dear Veteran” for veteran letters.
