cities are contributing effective interaction between urban and rural communities as well as between human settlements and nature, in the context of the UN-Habitat Guiding Principles on Urban-Rural Linkages\nUN-Habitat invites contributors to share case studies related to strengthening urban-rural linkages, particularly fostering the intermediary role of cities.\nUN-Habitat and OECD define Intermediary cities as small and medium-sized cities that play an intermediation role by connecting urban and rural areas. \u0013 HYPERLINK the intervention.\nAnnex 1: Summary of Urban-Rural Linkages Guiding Principles and Framework for Action\nGuiding Principles:\nUN Habitat defines Urban Rural linkages as the as non-linear, diverse urban-rural interactions and linkages across space within an urban-rural continuum, including flows of people, goods, capital and information but also between sectors and activities such as agriculture, services and manufacturing. In general, they can be defined as a complex web of connections between rural and urban dimensions. Through a consultation process with numerous stakeholders UN-Habitat has developed 10 guiding principles and 11 Framework of Action areas or thematic entry points. The collection of inspiring practices will help to raise awareness and build evidence encouraging others to apply the guiding principles through the framework of action to strengthen urban-rural linkages.\nThe 10 Guiding Principles are:\nLocally grounded interventions: The local context matters a lot in making urban-rural linkages work and should inform and guide the translation of global agendas such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (including the SDGs), the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and others.\nIntegrated governance: Strengthen governance mechanisms by incorporating urban-rural linkages into multisectoral, multi-level and multi-stakeholder governance.\nFunctional Spatial Systems-based Approaches: Use system-based approaches to promote integrative and inclusive urban, territorial and rural policy an","cbCait6a9RiLk55U","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCait6a9RiLk55U","docx",241332,"English","# Case Study Template\n## Purpose and invited contributions\n## Definitions and scope (intermediary cities)\n## Guidance for completing the template\n## Summary\n### Intervention Details\n### Relevance and Application of the Guiding Principles\n### Relevance of the Framework for Action\n## Annex 1: Guiding Principles and Framework for Action","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of this case study template?\",\"answer\":\"It collects experiences on how intermediary cities contribute effective interaction between urban and rural communities, and between settlements and nature, within the UN-Habitat Guiding Principles on Urban-Rural Linkages.\"},{\"question\":\"How are intermediary cities defined in this template?\",\"answer\":\"Intermediary cities are small and medium-sized cities that connect urban and rural areas, acting as hubs for goods and services and helping structure urban-rural linkages.\"},{\"question\":\"Which parts of the case study must be completed by the author?\",\"answer\":\"The template calls for intervention details, selection and description of relevant guiding principles, and identification of actions linked to the Framework for Action.\"}]","5th Compendium of Inspiring Practices on Urban-Rural Linkages - Case Study Template | DOCX",1788328344]
