In addition, materials are provided that will help 4-H Leaders who are guiding Dog Projects. \nAt the end of each chapter are Suggested Activities and Suggested Reflections. These may be adapted by 4-H Dog Leaders to best match the age and level of the 4-H members. \nChapter 1 – Introduction \nWhile 4-H was thought to have started between 1890 and \n1900, the first 4-H club was formed in 1902 by A.B. \nGraham. It is astounding that Graham’s early organizational ideas of having officers, projects, meetings and record-keeping requirements are still in place today ([https://4-h.org/about/](https://4-h.org/about/) [history/](history/) ) . \nIn 1906, Iowa school Superintendent O.H. Benson came across a group of children searching for four-leaf clovers. Benson thought the clover was the perfect symbol to represent 4-H’s “four-square education,” which is educational development, fellowship development, physical development and moral development. Today, we recognize 4-H as standing for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health, all of the components of what is required for effective learning \n([https://4-hhistorypreservation.com/History/Clover](https://4-hhistorypreservation.com/History/Clover) ). \nSince 4-H began, there have been projects that encompass all of 4-H’s educational components on a seemingly unending variety of topics that range from various aspects of animals, music, sewing, and woodwor","cbCaii6Uad3ahGQz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaii6Uad3ahGQz","pdf",12159951,267,"English","# About the 4-H Manual\n# Chapter 1 – Introduction to 4-H\n# Chapter 2 – The Science of Dogs\n# Chapter 3 – Basics of Care\n# Chapter 4 – Nutrition & Health\n# Chapter 5 – Keeping Your Dog Healthy\n# Chapter 6 – Find the Right Breed\n# Chapter 7 – Conformation Dog Shows\n# Chapter 8 – Canine Good Citizen®\n# Chapter 9 – Virtual Home Manners\n# Chapter 10 – Tricks\n# Chapter 11 – Therapy Dogs\n# Chapter 12 – Farm Dog Certified\n# Chapter 13 – Agility\n# Chapter 14 – Obedience & Rally\n# Chapter 15 – More Dog Activities\n# Chapter 16 – Dogs With Jobs\n# Chapter 17 – Careers in Dogs","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the 4-H Dog Project Manual?\",\"answer\":\"The manual provides a facilitator guide to help 4-H leaders and members develop a solid foundation for raising, caring for, training, and participating in dog events and activities.\"},{\"question\":\"How are suggested activities and reflections used?\",\"answer\":\"Each chapter includes suggested activities and suggested reflections that 4-H dog leaders may adapt to match members’ age and level.\"},{\"question\":\"What does a 4-H Dog Project help members learn?\",\"answer\":\"A 4-H Dog Project helps members learn to become responsible dog owners, typically by owning or leasing a project dog for the 4-H year and training it during the project period.\"}]","4-H Dog Project Manual - Facilitator Guide for Leaders and 4-H Members | PDF",1791883076,93]
