\nVALUESDREAMSANDVISION \nFEBRUARY 2025 \n# 2024 DREAM TEAM REPORT and STRATEGIC FRAMEWORKINTRODUCTION\n\nAt Asbury First United Methodist Church,we believe God continually calls us to dream boldlyand envision new possibilities. Our community values deep connection, radical inclusivity, andthoughtful engagement with faith—where all are welcome, questioning is encouraged, andcritical thinking is essential to spiritual growth. These strengths have shaped Asbury First into aplace of belonging and transformation for over 200 years. As we look to the future,we mustbuild on this strong foundation while embracing opportunities for growth and new initiatives. \nThis report is the result of deep reflection, hard work, and prayer, undertaken by a dedicatedteam committed to Asbury First's future.Tasked by the Governing Board and appointed by Rev.Dr.Stephen Cady, the Dream Team engaged in a deliberate process of listening, discerning, and shaping a strategic vision. After Dr.Cady's departure, the team continued with Rev.TedAnderson, our interim Senior Minister, and, through the summer of 2024,worked under theleadership of Kimberly Jones and Christina Kirivong. With the arrival of Rev.Dr.MichelleBogue-Trost,the team moved forward with renewed focus. \nBy synthesizing the 2017 DreamScape with 250 dreams shared on our \"dream boards\"betweenFall 2023 and Spring 2024,the team identified common themes and emerging priorities.Whatbegan as a traditional strategic plan evolved into a dynamic strategic framework for vision anddecision-making—offering flexibility in a changing world while keeping Asbury First responsiveto the needs of our congregation and community. \nThrough this work,we have reaffirmed that our Vision “To do more good”and our Mission \"ToLove,Live,Serve and Repeat”continue to represent an accurate description of our bestdreams, and our work identified enhancements that will make us more capable of achievingthese dreams. The resulting framework is not a rigid blueprint but a guide—one that providesstructure while allowing adaptability as we seek to live into God's call.We hope this work willinspire meaningful action, encourage thoughtful discernment, and serve as a living documentthat shapes our ministries for years to come.It presents our reimagined values, and offersguiding questions for applying our values to our mission and ministry work. The GuidingQuestions are to be used along with prayer and discernment as we examine existing andpotential ministry work in light of our stated values. \nDreams alone are not enough—they must be paired with action, commitment, and a sharedpurpose. The Dream Team now invites the Governing Board,Committees, ministry teams, andstaff to take the next step by developing measurable short-and long-term goals that align withour reaffirmed Values and Guiding Questions, ensuring that our work remains faithful to thevalues of Asbury First for future generations. \nIn Christ's Service, \nThe Dream Team
