See page 2 for more)[information.](information.)  \nVisit [the Revenue e-Services Center at www.revenue.state.pa.us](the Revenue e-Services Center at www.revenue.state.pa.us)[ ](the Revenue e-Services Center at www.revenue.state.pa.us)to file your tax return, make payments, check the status of your return and refund, and update your address.  \nTAX FORGIVENESS  \nDepending on your income and family size, you may qualify for a refund or reduction of your Pennsylvania income tax liability with the state’s Tax Forgiveness program. Read the instructions beginning on page 34 to see if you qualify.  \n2008 STATE TAX CHANGES  \nAct 61 revised the Educational Improvement Tax Credit so that S corporations and other pass through entities may claim the credit. The Act also increased the annual credit limit. Claim the credit on PA Schedule OC.  \nAct 66 created a tax credit for volunteer ambulance, fire and rescue personnel. Qualified volunteers are eligible for a tax credit up to $100 to be used against their 2008 income tax liability. Eligibility of volunteers will be determined using a service points system certified by the chief or president of the volunteer organization. Claim the credit using PA Schedule OC-V and PA Schedule OC.  \nAct 66 also transfers the donations made to the Breast and Cervical Cancer Research Fund to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, rather than the PA Department of Health.  \nAct 1 created the Alternative Energy Production Tax Credit which may be claimed by taxpayers who develop or construct alternative energy production projects within the Commonwealth. Apply to the PA Department of Environmental Protection for the credit by Sept. 15, 2009, on 2008 projects or facilities that have a useful life of at least four years.  \nForms Changes  \nThe Department developed the PA Schedule OC-V, Volunteer Responder Recruitment and Retention Tax Credit Application, as an application form for the credit. Use one of the Forms Ordering Services found on page 3 to obtain the form.  \nThe Department revised the PA Schedule T, Gambling And Lottery Winnings, to include a line to record any PA state tax withholding included on form W-2G.  \nCOMBAT ZONE AND HAZARDOUS DUTY SERVICE  \nPennsylvanians serving in combat zones or qualified hazardous duty areas have the same additional time to file their state income tax returns and make payments as they have for federal income tax purposes. The due date is automatically extended for 180 days from the last day of service or the last day of continuous hospitalization for injuries incurred in one of these areas.
