funwith books in the Junior Lit-erary Guild has meant a lot of funand a lot of books. For since June,1929,when our Book Club wasstarted,we,your editors, havesent over ten million books to ourMembers everywhere. \nWhat kinds of books have theMembers of the Junior Guildespecially liked? No doubt aboutit,Junior Guild Members havealways been discoverers and ad-venturers in their reading. In ourstories we not only have enjoyedbecoming acquainted with otherboys and girls who live in ourown kind of town or city, butalso have been glad to meet thosewhose homes are in the many dif-ferent kinds of places to be foundthroughout our United States. \nIt has been fun, too,to travelin our books to other countries,to learn what the boys and girlsthere are like and what they do.Their ways have fascinated us,atthe same time that we have madea special discovery about them. They may look different.Theirclothes may seem very strange. But they are much like us,afterall. They love their parents, theirsisters, their brothers. They havesad as well as happy days.Inshort, they are folks. In our Junior Guild biographies \nwe have enjoyed becoming ac-quainted with the great men andwomen of today and yesterday,of our own and other lands. We \nTwenty-Five Yearby Hele \nhave had hours of poetry to-gether,of fairy stories,of wondertales from around the world. \nWith great scientists we haveexplored the earth, the sea, thesky. We have looked throughpowerful telescopes at the sun,the moon, the stars. We have gonedown into the ocean to look atthe curious and beautiful crea-tures there. We have climbedtallest mountain peaks. We havetraveled to the North and theSouth Poles. And we have beheld \nthe wonders of our own country-side——of the trees, the flowers, thebirds, and much, much more. \nWe have seen how great inven-tions came to pass, bringing usfor our happy living so much un-thought of in times gone by.Aseach year has passed and new mar-vels have been discovered, those, too, have been in our Junior Guildbooks—the marvels of radio,of \nf Fun with Bookserris \ntelevision,of aviation, and onand on.And we know that in theyears to come,as new wondersbecome known to man, those, too, will be in our books. \nHow is it that we have beenable to have these adventures, \nthese discoveries, for our readingpleasure?Because many peopleare themselves adventurersdiscoverers. The editors offor boys and girls in the pul ish \ning companies of our country, from whom we get our JuniorGuild books. Not a week goes bythat does not see them searchingfor new and thrilling books foryou. Our authors, and there havebeen seven hundred seventy-oneof them during our twenty-fiveyears.They never cease to lookfor exciting new things to put inyour books. Our artists, and therehave been five hundred twenty-nine of them. They ever look forand find new, stirring, and beauti-ful ways in which to make theillustrations of your books. \nJoining with them have beenyour parents, your librarians, yourteachers, who have their impor-tant parts in finding and bringingto you just the books you willsurely enjoy. \nAll together—explorers and ad-venturers.We who are your JuniorLiterary Guild editors are happyto be partners with them.It isa partnership for boys and girlseverywhere. It
