Lower-achievers in the Literacy Hour is aseries of books aimed at enabling all children, regardless of ability,to access the learningrequirements set out in the National Literacy StrategyFramework for Teaching. There are six books in theseries, one for each of the Primary Years 1-6(Scottish Primary 2-7).They are designed to beused by teachers or other adults working withlower-achievers in the mainstream classroom. \nThe books offer a structured approach whichprovides detailed lesson plans to teach specific skillsand goals as outlined in the National Literacy StrategyFramework for Teaching. The lesson plans cover workat text, sentence and word levels and target alearning objective from each term's work. \nSince lower-achievers often learn at a slowerrate than other children, and therefore would havesome difficulty in covering the whole year's workwithin that time, the areas and skills which causethe most problems for these children have beenaddressed. For example, concepts such assequencing or predicting are included. \nA feature of the series is the provision of severalresource and generic sheets for each lesson, whichare aimed at considerably reducing teacherpreparation time.Permission is granted by theauthor and publisher to photocopy these sheets foreducational purposes within the school ororganisation that has purchased this book.Thesheets are designed to reinforce the teaching pointand offer the child an opportunity to practise theskill being taught. The lesson plans also offer severalactivities to further consolidate the point. These aredesigned to be done either with an adult providingclose support or with a degree of independence. \nThe generic sheets ca","cbCaimszBmfokvhX","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimszBmfokvhX","pdf",8384538,132,"English","#
