Translation both ways forms part of the Reading and Writing papers.  \nWhat we are currently covering?  \nIn Y10 pupils complete strands from each of the three Themes from Holidays to School, Socialising and Free time , Town and the Environment. They also have regular practise in Reading, Listening , Writing, Speaking, Grammar and Translation as part of normal lessons. In addition pupils sit mocks in all skills as part of their exam week but will also be tested on module specific listening and reading tasks at regular intervals both formatively and summatively. In this way, students gain insight into which are their strongest and weakest skills and can focus their attention appropriately. Pupils must ensure that they continuously revise their personal questions to the module questions they may be asked as part of their final oral exam.  \nWhat you will have to do in Year 11?  \nPupils will be expected to do intensive weekly learning of the language covered in class and use Active learn in addition to other webprograms to facilitate this. S6 revision sessions are also available to revise the y10 material and pupils are expected to avail themselves of this support.  \nHome study Plan  \nHomestudy is set each week and is a vital part of preparation for this qualification. In addition, pupils are expected to take responsibility for ensuring they are assimilating the necessary vocabulary , tense grammar and language structures independently and can access all the necessary support materials via weekly emails from the classteacher and keeping on top of homework tasks.  \nUseful websites and books to help with revision  \nRevision guide and Links:  \nA comprehensive guide is offered for purchase at the beginning of the course which pupils are encouraged to purchase and which also has free online access. In addition to their ex books, pupils will be expected to keep a portfolio in which they should keep copies of handouts, assessments and a log of their independent study towards acquisition of vocabulary, grammar and practice in each of the skills, vocab sheets etc as well as a language learning journal where they record personal reflections of their progress.
