Throughout Year 10 students will be challenged and encouraged to achieve the best results in all their subjects and will be encouraged to set goals to reach them. Year 10 can be expected to be more demanding than Year 9 in relation to the subjects studied and students must consistently apply themselves fully in each of their classes and with their study. \nStudents need to be aware that Subject Selection for Year 11 will occur at the end of Term 2, therefore, Semester 1 results in Year 10 are important, as these will determine what subjects are available for selection. Students must ensure that they apply themselves during Year 10 to give themselves the best opportunity to move forward in their desired pathway for \nYear 11. \nMiranda Dempsey \nDeputy Principal ( Year 10 to Year 12) \nElective courses will run on a student popularity basis; therefore, the College cannot guarantee that all elective offerings will run. \n3 \nPATHWAYS IN YEAR 11 AND YEAR 12 BOSCO’S FOCUS PATHWAYS \nBosco offers a range ofWACE courses (ATAR and General), Vocational Education & Training (VET) qualifications and Endorsed Programs that collectively constitute the core components \nThe hybridFOCUS pathway prepares students to choose a specialisation and/or direction post-graduation. During their senior secondary education, students explore, engage in and improve their understandings of various post-secondary graduation options by blending opportunities across the trade, vocational and university focuses throughout Year 11 and Year 12. \nThe tradeFOCUS pathway supports students in developing a competitive apprentice profile by completing a pre-apprenticeship and 220 hours of work experience across two years that will position them as a strong candidate in the competitive apprenticeship landscape. \nThe uniFOCUS pathway prepares students for the rigour of university via a minimum 4 ATAR course load. A combination of General courses anda less than 4 ATAR course load is also permissible in combination with a University Enabling Program in Year 12 that, if completed successfully, guarantees a minimum ATAR score of 70. Should they wish, students with a minimum 4 ATAR course load may also undertake a University Enabling Program. \nThe vocationFOCUS pathway supports students in participating in a school based traineeship which involves being a paid trainee whilst also working towards a qualification in a relevant field with potential to be employed at completion by the employer.
