Schedule.Service Manuals are available fromyour dealer for Yale lift trucks to help users who do their ownmaintenance. \n# Serial Number Data\n\nThe serial number code for the ift truck is on the Nameplate. The code is also stamped on the right side of the rear bulk-head (battery compartment)on the top edge or on the frontface near the top. \n# How to Move a Disabled Lift Truck\n\nAWARNING \nUse extra care when towing a lift truck if there is a prob-lem with any of the following: \n·Brakes do not operate correctly. \n·Steering does nof operate correctly. \n·Tires are damaged. \n·Traction conditions are bad. \n·The lift truck must be moved on a steep grade. \nIf the hydraulic pump motor, which includes the steeringcontrol functions, does not operate, steering control ofthe lift truck can be slow. This can make the control ofthe lift truck difficult. If there is no electrical power, thereis no power steering.DO NOT tow the lift truck if there isno power.Poor traction can cause the disabled lift truckor towing vehicle to slide.Steep grades will require addi-tional brake force to stop the lift truck. \n# WARNING\n\never carry a disabled lift truck unless the lift truckUST be moved and cannot be towed. The lift truck usedcarry the disabled lift truck MUST have a ratedapacity equal to or greater than the weight of the disa-led lift truck. The capacity must be for a load centerqual to half the width of the disabled lift truck. \nee the Nameplate of the disabled lift truck for the approxi-ate total weight. The forks must extend the fullwidth of thesabled lift truck.Center the weight of the disabled lift truckn the forks and be careful not to damage the under side ofe lift truck. \n# How to Tow the Lift Truck\n\n1.The towed lift truck must have an operator. \n2.Raise the carriage and forks approximately 300 mm(12 in.)from the surface.Install a chain to prevent the car-riage and mast channels from moving. \n3.Tow with another ift truck of equal or greater capacity thanthe disabled lift truck.Installa load of approximately half-capacity on the forks of the lif truck that is being used to towthe disabled lift truck. The half-capacity load wil increase thetraction of the lift fruck.Keep the load as low as possible. \n4.Use a towing link made of steel that fastens to the tow pinsin the counterweights of both lif trucks. \n5.Release the parking brake. \n6.Tow the lif truck slowly. \n# Maintenance\n\nHow to Put a Lift Truck on Blocks \nWARNING \nThe lift truck must be put on blocks for some types ofmaintenance and repair. The removal of the followingassemblies will cause large changes in the center ofgravity:mast and drive assembly, battery or the coun-terweight.When the lift fruck is put on blocks, put addi-tional blocks in the following positions to maintainstability: \n·Before removing the mast and drive assembly, putblocks under the counterweight so that the lift truckcannot tip backward. \n·Before removing the battery and counterweight, putblocks under the mast assembly so that the lift truckcannot tip forward. \nPut the lift truck on blocks only if the surface is solid, even and level.Make sure that any blocks used to sup-port the lift truck are solid,one-piece units. \nNOTE:Some lift trucks have lifting eyes. These lift points canbe used to raise the lift truck so that blocks can be installed.
