planfor educating students of today.West Virginia I'niversity is noexception.  \nPhysical fitness,one aspect of the Uni-versity's program,is essential to ourfuture well-being.  \nEducation  \nEducation is the process through whichminds are formed so that as this procedurecontinues the individual becomes more andmore able to adjust to the world.  \nWest Virginia University is only one partof this process,but it is here that many of thetools of the mind are strengthened and madeready for what comes later.  \nIn this environment we learn from all withwhich we come into contact;parties,classes,coffee breaks at the Lair,and Cheat Lake inthe spring.These plus many other elementsmake up the vast parts of the process of ob-taining an education.  \nTo educate those who will receive it is thepurpose of West Virginia University.This isthe process of education at our University.  \nAn intrinsic part of the attainment of a university educa-tion is the learning from another's knowledge.The Univer-sity Library provides ample sources.·.yours for theasking.  \nThe student not only lears by listening,hut by demonstrating his knowledge andunderstanding to others,as is shown bythis student at the blackboard.  \nWhether cramming for a final or prepar-ing his lessons,this student is shown in atypical W.V.U.atmosphere.  \nA biochemist extracts fats from feed for ran-cidity studies.  \nA student demonstrates remote pippetting of radioactiveisotopes in the Physics Building laboratory.  \nResearch  \nScience continues to be the growing frontierof society.The greater man's knowledge be-comes,the more he needs to improve himselfand the world he lives in by study and re-search.  \nAt West Virginia University research pro-jects of many types are progressing to helppenetrate these frontiers.Projects in agricul-ture,biological sciences,engineering,chemis-try,physics,and astronomy are but a few ofmany such types of research sponsored by theUniversity.  \nThis is the growth of our nation in strivingfor advancement.It is another way of makinga better world and a better West
