The Board has contracted with Prov, [Inc. to](Inc. to) develop and administer its licensing examination program for contractors. This bulletin has been developed to help explain the rules and processes candidates will need to undertake to complete the testing requirement for their contractor license.  \nWest Virginia law requires that each business operating in the construction industry be licensed. To become licensed, a company representative must demonstrate competency by passing the required exam(s) in the field of construction for which licensure is being sought. A company can have multiple qualifiers. However, backups are not allowed.  \nBoard regulations require that qualifying individual(s) taking an exam be part of responsible management. or a full-time employee of the entity seeking licensure.  \nProv is not authorized to make the determination of which examination(s) candidates must take. If a candidate is unsure which exam is needed for the license being sought, resolve this question before registering.
