Can works to windows be carried out following the “like-for-like”window replacement description so the proposed work is not considered “development,” or can they be carried out under the criteria and conditions of Permitted Development (PD)? \n• If the proposed works to windows meet the above requirements, you will not need to apply for planning permission. \n• See Appendix 1 for a flowchart that describes the conditions and criteria required for Permitted Development that you might need to comply with. \n• See Appendix 2 for a description of “like-for-like” and similar window replacement \n• Refer to Islington’s Net Zero Permitted Development Guide for more details on permitted development. \n2. When works to windows are not eligible for PD, planning permission is required: \nTo apply for planning permission, you will need to: \na) Complete and submit an application form: \n• Details on how to complete and submit a planning application are available on the Planning Portal webpage. \n• You will need to complete a certificate of ownership which will usually be Certificate A (Sole owner) or Certificate B (other interested parties, applicable to leaseholders) . \n• Do not forget to sign and date the application form. \nb) Include a location and site plan \n• This is to identify which building is affected by the development proposal. \n• The location plan must: \no be to scale, either 1:1250 or 1:2500 \no have a red outline of the building’s boundary \nFor more details, see the national guide to support you to prepare a site plan or buy one online. \nc) Drawings \nYour contractor should be able to provide drawings of the proposed window. Drawings should be to scale and should include: \n• elevation drawings showing existing and proposed windows, showing only windows that will be affected by the proposal, \n• more detailed elevation and section drawings of the proposed windows showing: \no how the proposed windows open; \no the glazing bar pattern; \no the beading or spacing between the panes of glass; \no the reveal (whether the proposed windows are set back from the face of the building. \nd) State the public benefits relating to energy efficiency and their contribution to a low carbon future \nFor a planning application it will be helpful to provide a short supporting statement which explains the motivation for undertaking the works to the windows. \ne) Present impact on heritage for: \ni) Buildings in Conservation Areas \n• A brief Design, Access and Heritage statement should be submitted to describe how the proposal will/ will not impact the character and appearance of the conservation area. Special attention should be given to mitigating impact on character and appearance of conservation areas. \n• To establish whether the building is a positive contributor to the character and appearance of the conservation area: \n• Check what buildings and features the relevant Conservation Area Appraisal or Design Guide identifies as contributing to the character and appearance of the conservation area. \n• If the building follows a consistent pattern in scale, detail and form as a series of nearby buildings that is mentioned within the area appraisal or design guide it is likely to be a positive contributor. \nii) Listed buildings \n• An application for Listed Building Consent will be required. See Historic England Advice Note 16 for more details. \n• A Design, Access and Heritage Statement to: \no Describe the significance of the listed building or any other heritage assets (particularly the parts that would be affected by the proposal) . This should reference the National Heritage List for England. \no Provide detailed information about the windows and any other features that would be affected (shutters or surrounds) . \no Written description, site photographs (internal and external) and other evidence as relevant such as details of the proposed materials, manufacturers, method of ","cbCaifQfO9Qc8c1h","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifQfO9Qc8c1h","pdf",194543,"English","# Planning Permission Checklist\n## When planning permission is not needed\n## When planning permission is required\n## Application requirements (steps a–f)\n## Appendix 1: Permitted Development Flowchart - Windows","[{\"question\":\"When can works to windows be carried out without applying for planning permission?\",\"answer\":\"If the window works meet the “like-for-like” replacement description so they are not treated as “development,” or if they fall under Permitted Development (PD) criteria and conditions, planning permission is not needed.\"},{\"question\":\"What must be submitted when works to windows are not eligible for Permitted Development?\",\"answer\":\"Submit a planning application form, a location and scaled site plan with a red outline of the boundary, and scaled drawings showing existing and proposed windows.
