This trend presents a unique opportunity for archives to focus on use, educational outreach, and promotion through collaborations between heritage institutions and educators in secondary schools. This study presents bibliometric research on the relevant literature in the fields of library and information science and education from 2009–2019 to determine the extent of collaborations between cultural heritage institutions and secondary schools. Fifty-six articles met the study parameters and were analyzed in order to discover the number of published articles per year, which journals were the top publishers, the educational content area of each article, and whether digital or physical archival materials were described.  \nIntroduction  \nARTICLE HISTORY  \nReceived 11 January 2021  \nAccepted 8 October 2021  \nKEYWORDS  \nArchives;  \nbibliometrics; digitization;  \neducation;  \nsecondary schools; special collections  \nPrograms such as the UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) Programme established in 1992, have helped bring attention to the issues of preservation and access to heritage resources worldwide. MoW projects such asthe Slave Trade Archives Project started in 1999, often use digitization to help preserve artifacts and broadcast knowledge to a larger audience. 1 The FY2018 Preservation Statistics Survey conducted by the Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the American Library Association (ALA) reported an astounding 752,392 items digitized for preservation by the 17 institutions responding.2 As information technology continues to advance, the information landscape and the institutions which organize information must adapt and innovate in response.
