They can soak up incredible amounts of damage and their rages provide powerful abilities that are useful to any party. \nBut among the Wood Elves there are fighters that have mastered a style of combat that emulates many of the powers of a barbarian, but in a very different way. These Wood Elf barbarians, called Leaf Dancers, use their natural dexterity and speed in place of brute strength to devastating effect. \nA re-imagined Barbarian theme for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition \nDedicated to my wife, Jenny. TITLE 1 \nThe Dance of the Spinning Leaf \nTwo blades stood motionless in the late summer sun. \nAll around the two fighters the trees were turning the blood red color of sunset. Autumn was approaching quickly. There was a freshness to the air that spoke of frosts in the days ahead. But today was hot. \nThe two Wood Elves circled, carefully placing their feet with each step so that they maintained constant eye contact. \nThe moment crystallised as the tension built and then, in an explosion of movement, both of the fighters unwound, spinning through an unbelievably quick sequence of lunges, parries, slashes and thrusts before suddenly pausing and letting the tension build again. \nNaturally both of the swordsmen were uninjured, despite the fact that the blades they both carried were honed to a razor edge. They had not been trying to land a blow against each other. \nThe object of their interest was skewered on the blade of one of the fighters; a single, blood red leaf. It had been pierced neatly through the central vein by an expert thrust. \nNow both fighters waited for the summer breeze to dislodge another leaf from the great red tree. Neither of them knew when the leaf would fall. It may be in the next few seconds, it may be tomorrow. But surely, at some point there would be another. Then the dance of blades would begin again. \nOn this day the stakes were particularly high for the two elves performing the Dance of the Spinning Leaf. Both fighters had trained every day for nine years to become masters of their art. Now they competed for the praise of their master. For these combatants there was no more valuable reward. \nThe man, dressed in light linens, had skewered the first fallen leaf. The woman in the dark blue silkshad scored the second. The third leaf would end the dance. \nThe moments stretched on. The breeze blew, but no leaves fell. \nBoth fighters felt the sweat dripping from their \nfaces. The mental pressure was intense. It felt to \nboth of them that they were listening to the song of the universe with every nerve in their bodies. They almost believed that their whole being had become some highly tuned sensory organ; if they closed their eyes they would know when a leaf fell. \nThe moment stretched on.","cbCaiewRccKjAfag","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiewRccKjAfag","pdf",944113,"English","# The Dance of the Spinning Leaf\n## Leaf Dancers and their combat style\n## The duel and the falling leaf","[{\"question\":\"Who are the Leaf Dancers in the document?\",\"answer\":\"Leaf Dancers are Wood Elf barbarians who emulate barbarian-like powers using natural dexterity and speed instead of brute strength.\"},{\"question\":\"What is the central event called, and what happens during it?\",\"answer\":\"The event is the Dance of the Spinning Leaf.
