November 4-5 at theWashington,D.C.,National Cathedral,the U.S.Episcopal Church welcomed theMost Rev.Dr.Katharine Jefferts Schori asits 26th Presiding Bishop.She is the firstwoman in Anglicanism's five-centuryhistory to head one of its 38 provinces.  \nThe 11 a.m.All Saints'Sunday liturgyon November 5 included her formalseating in the cathedra or official chair.During the rite of investiture the daybefore,she received symbols of theoffice,including the primatial staffpresented by the 25th Presiding Bishop,Frank T.Griswold,whose nine-year tenureconcluded as hers began on November 1.  \nThe November 4 rite o investiture waswebcast from 11 a.m.to about 1:15 p.m.via a link on the Episcopal Churchhomepage,while a satellite uplinkprovided live coverage opportunities to allmedia.  \nAs Presiding Bishop,Jefferts Schori,  \n52,is chief pastor to a church that includesmore than 2.4 million members in some  \n7,600 congregations in 111 diocesesspanning 16 countries.She also joins Tuesday morning and afternoon,in interactive presentations,Dr.Melinda L.Thompson will focus on Preaching and Dr.Norma Everist,Teaching.  \nThompson,instructor in Old Testament and Biblical Languages at the University of  \nDubuque(Iowa)Seminary,completedher Ph.D.in Scripture with an emphasison Old Testament at Luther TheologicalSeminary in St.Paul,Minnesota.Herdoctoral thesis offered a rhetorical-critical analysis of the commands torelational holiness in Leviticus 19.  \nShe served as interim professor of OldTestament and Biblical Languages atCrossroads College and was a
