There are calls for a paradigm shift in the field to normalise participatory health research, i.e., doing research “with” not “on” refugees and migrants. This workshop will showcase capacity building initiativesa World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Participatory Health Research for Refugee and Migrant Health in the University of Limerick Ireland. The objectives are to stimulate critical thinking about participatory health research values and share methodologies and resources for doing participatory health research. \nWorkshop Plan: Seminar with experiential learning via small group discussions and an opportunity to experience some participatory methodologies \n• Welcome and ice breaker - 10 mins UL and WHO \n• Presentation 1 on PHR values and principles - 10 mins UL \n• Interactive session about using two arts based participatory methodologies: photovoice and music and singing in the Irish Dept of Health funded ‘Refugee and Migrant Health Partnership’– 40 mins \nUL Academics and Community Partners: \n• Presentation 2 on WHO PHR resources and experiences of bring participatory principles to Migration Health Programme– 20 mins WHO and UL RE: \nWHO Copenhagen re. the PHR Country implementation guide and PHR pilot and \nWHO Geneva re. bringing participatory principles to the development of the 1st Global Research Agenda process \n• Closing round and evaluation - 10 mins UL \nMain Messages: Workshop participants will (i) gain knowledge of participatory health research values, methodologies and resources (ii) experience culturally attuned methods to stimulate new ways of working in their own research that will support doing research with, not on, refugees and migrants. \nAbstract citation ID: ckaf180 .038 \n396 WHO collaborating centre for participatory health research with refugees and migrants: values, methodologies and resources \nAnne MacFarlane1, Helen Phelan1, Ailish Hannigan1, Susann Huschke1, Fran Garry1, Anna Papyan1, Anne Cronin1, Ahmed Hassan2, Jim Walsh3, Kristina Mauer-Stender4, Simone Melki4, Miriam Orcutt5, Santino Severoni5, Marc Gallego Garcia \n1University of Limerick, Ireland, Limerick, Ireland 2Doras, Limerick, Ireland","cbCaibn8JJgzCeqJ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibn8JJgzCeqJ","pdf",71375,"English","# Background and Objectives\n# Workshop Plan\n## Welcome and ice breaker\n## Presentation 1: PHR values and principles\n## Interactive session: photovoice and music/singing\n## Presentation 2: WHO PHR resources and experiences\n## Closing round and evaluation\n# Main Messages","[{\"question\":\"What shift in migration health research does the workshop promote?\",\"answer\":\"It promotes moving from conducting research “on” refugees and migrants to doing research “with” them, by normalising participatory health research.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the workshop plan support experiential learning?\",\"answer\":\"It uses small-group discussions and provides an opportunity to experience participatory methodologies in an interactive format.\"},{\"question\":\"Which arts-based participatory methodologies are highlighted?\",\"answer\":\"The workshop highlights photovoice and music and singing as arts-based participatory methodologies.\"}]","WKS 29 - WHO Collaborating Centre for Participatory Health Research with Refugees and Migrants: values, methodologies and resources | PDF",1790729023]
