My aunt-my kakima-said there will be delicious dishes of fresh rice, forest chicken, rice cakes, payesh, and vegetables from the jhum harvest!  \nNobanno: harvest festival  \nkakima: paternal uncle’s wife  \npayesh: creamy rice pudding  \njhum: an agricultural technique that yields different types of crops  \nI like Kakima a lot. She is very hard working! She says that a lot of hard work and care are needed to yield a good harvest.  \nJust like Kakima, the other girls in the village are also very hard working. They leave their homes at the break of dawn to work in the fields, only to return in the evening.  \nThe rice is ripening in many of the fields, including Kakima’s . I like to visit all the jhum fields! The joy of cultivating jhum together is something special.  \nThe rolling, green mountains, the morning light, the birdsong, the murmuring sound of flowing streams, and the scent of wildflowers-everything is wonderful!  \nBut water is scarce in the mountains. So, everyone here has one wish: that it rains properly every year.  \nMy time in the mountains passed quickly. Before I knew it, the jhum season was coming to an end.
