It explains why the gospel extends beyond personal salvation to reconciliation, justice, peace, and the renewal of a wounded world. The guide is organized into parts that explore God as Creator, His ordering provision and blessing, and how believers are called to celebrate, share, and practice creation care in daily life.","Why Care for Creation? He tells ushow it brings peace and reconciliation with God, and between Jew and Gentileё and as Paul wrote to the Colossians, Jesusњs blood was shed on the cross so that through him God would љreconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or in heaven њ ѰУѐФТѱ . \nThis and other passages demonstrate that the application of the gospel is much wider than personal salvation. It is rooted in the Old Testament hope for a time when Godњs reign of love, justice, righteousness, and peace would break into this world and restore all things. The good news is that in the Lord Jesus, this reign has already begun. And Christ calls us to participate in his work of restoring his wounded creation. \nNow, in our time, this is all the more urgent and important, because the world is in crisis. According to the UN Secretary Generalѐ ћour planet is broken ѥ humanity is waging war on nature.ќ Recent reports have described the devastating impacts of climate change, the extinction of many animal and plant species, and widespread damage to our lands, the oceans, and the earthњs atmosphere. Yet this crisis is oȅen overlooked because of other concerns. \nThis study guide is in Ы parts. It seeks to encourage Christians to take to heart the reasons the Bible gives us to look aȅer the earth and all living things ѥ to practise what is known as љcreation care.њ In studies У to Х, we will see that creation is tobe cared for because it brings glory to God. In studies Ц to Ш we will consider Godњs commands to care for creation and how they apply to us. And in studies Щ to Ы we will see that Jesus has ensured the renewal of creation in the kingdom of God ѥ this is part of the good news that he wants us to celebrate, tell others, and put into practice in our daily lives. \nStudy У—God the Creator \nWhere can we find answers to our questions about why weare here, with all the other creatures, on earth? The sciences have much to say about the љwhatњ and the љhowњ. But the Bible focuses on telling us about the љwhoњ behind it all. Knowing this љwhoњ helps us to understand why we are here. The Bibleњs opening chapter tells us at least six things about this љwho,њ God the creator. \nУ. God is the creator of all things \nȃIn the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.Ȅ The universe is not an accident Ѧ everything that exists was created by someone who had the will and the power to do this. \nThroughout this first chapter of Genesis, this someone is named љElohim њ, the Almighty God. There is no other ѥ he alone is to be worshippedѐ ћ You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things ќ ѰRevelation ЦѐУУѱ . љElohim њ is plural, but in Genesis У it is accompanied by singular verb forms, which suggests that all the Trinity took part in creation. Here we are told that God created by speaking and by his Spirit. In the beginning, љthe Spirit of God was hovering over the watersњ ѥ the Spirit who gives life and is the љbreath of life њ ѰGenesis УѐФ,ХТё ФѐЩѱ . In study Щ, we will consider the Sonњs role in creation. \nФ.
