Community nurses were interviewed one-to-one in semi-structured sessions from May to December 2021, and transcripts were analysed via constant comparative methods. Four categories—education, practice, confidence, and motivation—were linked by a core phenomenon of uncertainty about roles and collaboration. Findings support comprehensive, continuous oral health education and clearer interprofessional role definitions to improve outcomes.",{"@graph":69,"@context":127},[70,84,106],{"@type":71,"itemListElement":72},"BreadcrumbList",[73,77,79,82],{"item":74,"name":75,"@type":76,"position":8},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":78,"name":9,"@type":76,"position":14},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/",{"item":80,"name":35,"@type":76,"position":81},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/healthcare/",3,{"item":83,"name":65,"@type":76,"position":19},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/whose-role-is-it-anyway-experiences-of-community-nurses-in-the-delivery-and-support-of-oral-health-care-for-older-people-living-at-home-a-grounded-theory-study/317164/",{"url":83,"name":65,"@type":85,"image":86,"author":91,"headline":65,"publisher":94,"fileFormat":97,"inLanguage":63,"description":67,"dateModified":98,"datePublished":99,"encodingFormat":97,"isAccessibleForFree":100,"interactionStatistic":101},"DigitalDocument",{"url":87,"@type":88,"width":89,"height":90},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/whose-role-is-it-anyway-experiences-of-community-nurses-in-the-delivery-and-support-of-oral-health-care-for-older-people-living-at-home-a-grounded-theory-study/317164.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":92,"@type":93},"Nguyễn Văn Học","Person",{"url":74,"name":95,"@type":96},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-26","2026-09-20",true,{"@type":102,"interactionType":103,"userInteractionCount":105},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":104},"ViewAction",12,{"@type":107,"mainEntity":108},"FAQPage",[109,115,119,123],{"name":110,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":112},"What was the study’s focus regarding older people’s oral health care at home?","Question",{"text":113,"@type":114},"The study examined how community nurses deliver and support oral health care for older adults living at home and what experiences shape their role.","Answer",{"name":116,"@type":111,"acceptedAnswer":117},"How were the data and analysis conducted in this grounded theory study?",{"text":118,"@type":114},"Fifteen practising community nurses participated in one-to-one semi-structured interviews, recorded and transcribed verbatim. Community nurses, who are also referred to as district or home care nurses, have an important role with this population. \nThis is because they are the healthcare professionals who are most likely to encounter this population, who may also not be receiving regular dental care or oral health promotion. However, few studies have explored community nursing experiences in the delivery and support of oral healthcare for older people living at home. \nMethods A grounded theory approach was used to explore experiences of community nurses in the delivery and support of oral health care for older people living at home. Fifteen practising community nurses from the United Kingdom participated in one-to-one semi-structed interviews from May 2021 to December 2021. These interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed using constant comparative analysis. Ethical approval was obtained for this study prior to data collection. \nResults Four categories emerged from the data to support development of the core phenomena.
