The Birth Part Two: The Birth","Women’s childbirth guide focusing on Part Two: the birth process, explaining how the uterus contracts and the cervix gradually opens. Covers typical timing (cervix opening taking 4–10 hours), possible mucus plug and water-bag changes, and practical coping steps during contractions such as breathing, relaxing, resting between contractions, staying hydrated, eating for energy, moving or walking, and monitoring bladder fullness. Emphasizes not pushing before full dilation to prevent exhaustion and internal damage.","2 What Will Happen? The Birth Written and illustrated by Robyn Nottingham \nInformation for women about childbirth-Part Two: The Birth \nEnglish \nPART TWO The Birth \n2 \nSTEP 1-Your Cervix Opens \nYour uterus is made of muscle, and it will squeeze, then rest, then squeeze again, then rest again. The squeezes get closer together until they are about 3 minutes apart, and they get stronger and stronger. A plug of mucous will come out. The water bag might break, and some sticky fluid come out. Your cervix will take 4-10 hours to open, so you must be VERY PATIENT! \nYour uterus squeezes down and pushes the baby’s head hard against your cervix, making your cervix open very slowly. His head keep getting pushed down until the cervix“door” is 10 cm wide and the baby can fit out through it. \n4 \nWhen the squeezes (or contractions) are painful, don’t be frightened. Tensing your muscles makes the contractions hurt more. So just breathe slowly and RELAX. Between the contractions, REST and save energy. Drink plenty of water, tea or coconut water, and eat some food, so you have energy to push the baby out. Move around a lot or walk. Pee often so that your full bladder doesn’t block the baby’s head moving down. The nurse will check to see when your cervix has opened. Just be patient! \nDON’T PUSH – pushing before the cervix is open will exhaust you and will damage your insides. \nSTEP 2-Your Baby \nMoves Down \nWhen your cervix is wide open, your contractions will get stronger. The baby will start to move down through your pelvis and vagina to come out. \nNow you can start pushing really hard. \n-Wait until a contraction starts. \n-Put your arms behind your knees, \n6 like in this picture. \n-Take a big breath and hold it with your mouth shut. \n8 \n-Put your chin on your chest. \n-Push down hard into your bottom, like if you were very constipated. \n-When the contraction is finished, don’t push any more, but rest until the next one starts. \n-The baby takes about 20 minutes to move down. \n9 \nSee how the baby’s head must turn as he moves down? He must get under that bone and come out facing your back","cbCaitSIohnyTABO","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitSIohnyTABO","pdf",6171309,2,1,30,"English","en",105,"# Step 1—Your Cervix Opens\n## Contractions, timing, and comfort measures\n## What to avoid: don’t push early\n# Step 2—Your Baby Moves Down\n## When pushing begins and the steps to push","[{\"question\":\"How long does it take for the cervix to open during childbirth?\",\"answer\":\"The cervix typically takes 4–10 hours to open.
