of Our Troubles, \nSince the War,the generous nature of most British people hasbeen unscrupulously imposed on by endles appeals for symathy withthe lo of the working men made by a political group of IabouritesSocialists and Communists, allworking against peace in industry soas to abolish Capitalism, that is private ownership and individualfreedom in work, which constitute the basis of civilisation and the8ources of our vast industries.Frank Hodges and H.Smith in 192I,were doing the work continued by A.J.Cook and H.Smith in I926;and Hodges then explained it as the ruin of the Coal industry,to befollowed by the fall of other industries, until“Capitalism was broughtcrashing to the ground.”The Communists work with the Socialistsbut think that stikes,Ca'Canny, and penetration of Parliament maketoo slow a programme;so they propose Red revolution to hurrythings up.To prepare for a start, they have sought to corrupt theTrade Unions, get control of their funds, and they have secured moneyand advice from the Moscow Soviet, which is the declared enemy otthe British Empire, and of Christianity. They have sought to getcontrol of the Trade Union Congress(T.U.C.)and made this intoa Soviet;which Mr.Baldwin describes as the“AlternativeGovernment”of Britain;and which is now attacking the wholeCommunity. \n## The Cause of the Coal Strike.\n\nThe strike is not due to discontent of the real miners,It isno quarrel between Miners and Owners. It is part of an olddeliberate plot by political bosses of the Miners'Unions to makeprofitable working imposible,so as to force the nation to nationalisethe mines. The majority of miners are no party to it;and thethousands of loyal miners who did their duty in war times, hadnothing to do with the shameless treachery of the leaders at home, whohelped our enemies by continual strikes without cause during theWarand who have fastened Bolshevik control on the Unions since the PeaceThe Country has been fooded with falschoods about starvation wages, \nand with mischevious exaggeration of the hardships of a Miner's life.Miners would not change their work for any other labour;they couldmake terms to satisfy them with Ownersif allowed to meet them bytheir bosses;they take more holidays and work less hours, than otherclasses of workers;they have steadily reduced their output of coal aswages rose;but they have no free or secret ballot on any seriousquestion affecting their lives.Everything happening in May 1926、was occurring in April 1921;and there has been no change inconditions or plans :except that the Country has less industry to fightfor and our enemies are stronger now than then. \nThe Bolshevik Finger in the Pie. \nThere has only been one power in Russia since the end of 1917·That power is the gang of
