STR DC:10 is required to escape. The webbing is vulnerable to fire and immunte to pierce, bludgeon, psychic damage. |
| --- |
| 0: The Trail
One of the player's friends was sent to investigate a cave in the forest. They've not returned since yesterday. They have set off into the forest to find them.
Players can use Nature/Survival DC:12 to find tracks (Nature will determine Spider tracks are also present). It leads to a part a darker part of the woods where they start to see webbing. They are attacked by Wolf Spiders from above (Perception DC:10 to avoid surprise) .
Enemies: Wolf Spiders-1 per 3 players-scale following fights on basis of success.
Animal Handling won't help with the spiders, but will reveal they are under an enchantment. |

1: Staying Awake/Alive
They follow tracks to an area with increasing amounts of webbing. Then they are attacked again by different spiders. Nature DC:14 to identify they are magic, Arcane DC:10 for their ability. Movement over the area is hampered by webbing-Perception checks when moving required to avoid falling in pits that release another spider (DC:10). Or they can use Survival to spot the traps ahead. They find four dead halfling bodies in web covered pits (2D6gp per player, an ocarina, a flute, a lute and camping supplies). One of their friend's weapons is lying on the floor, no sign of their body.
Enemies: Sleep Spiders-3 per player, As Spider but 1 bite puts player at disadvantage till they CON save DC:12, 2 bites puts a player to sleep for 1 minute. Bomb spiders-2, as Spider but explodes into webbing when hit or when it gets close enough to attack.
Meta game: Elves don't sleep. If the party is nothing but elves, change 2 bites to eventually cause paralysis instead-otherwise, let the elves feel superior. If Dwarves claim immunity, tell them the bite is magic, not poison (they can dominate later) .
If the party is put asleep they awake to find themselves covered in webbing-DC:10 STR to escape. The remaining sleep-spiders are nearby.
2: Cave Entrance
Further in they find a clearing in front of a cave. All players check Perception DC:14 to see webbing trip wires. Players that fail awaken a Wolf Spider. Success allows players to trace each tripwire to a sleeping Wolf Spider.
Enemies: Wolf Spiders-1 per player. Spiders still sleeping will awaken if they take damage. Players inspecting the cave entrance find numerous trails, like something heavy dragged in-over andover.
3: Tunnels
A sandbox area. Players can discover some of the following features whilst exploring the cave:
Treasure pits
Players will find sometimes find a pit carved into a wall with strands of webbing covering it. Behind the webbing is an item. Retrieving the item requires Sleight of Hand DC:10 to avoid being bitten by a sleeping Acid Spider-Spider but does 2D4 acid damage when it bites). Triggering the trap on purpose results in a Acid Spider leaping out.
A firebolt cantrip wand called Scorchio. Its name is one its side in Elvish-speaking the name aloud whilst holding the wand activates it and may require other players to dodge on the 1st use. Webbing is vulnerable to fire.
An amulet with a glass eye mounted in it (+1 perception once attuned, Arcana DC:12 to discover its nature) .
A finely crafted ring with a mythril spike on it. +1 to punch damage.
A horn with a pouch attached-when squeezed the horn emits, "Good Morning!" The voice is male and anyone listening hears it in their native language.
Abag containing 2D4x20gp in gems.
A sack full of vials. 1 healing potion per player.
A stone brick.
Other features
A passage has extremely dense webbing in it-requiring STR DC:10 to break through. on the oth","cbCaife5SpEnUQO6","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaife5SpEnUQO6","pdf",62652,"English","# Synopsis
# D&D Webbing Rules Reminder
# 0: The Trail
## Enemies and checks
# 1: Staying Awake/Alive
## Sleep spiders and magic webbing
# 2: Cave Entrance
## Trip wires and awakening wolf spiders
# 3: Tunnels
## Treasure pits and special items
# 4: The Queen
## Giant Spider and Rakni confrontation","[{"question":"What checks are needed to avoid becoming restrained by webbing?","answer":"Starting a turn in webbing or entering webbing requires an Athletics or Acrobatics check with DC 12 to avoid becoming restrained.
