Cthulhu is waking up after a very long sleep…and he’s hungry. You know that once he awakens he will devour everything in his path. \nProve you’ve mastered more spells than your fellow cultists in order to save your life! They also want to survive the end of time, and some can bootlick better than you can… \nIntroduction \nWake up, Cthulhu! is a board game for two to four players with a card engine based on H.P. Lovecraft’s universe. During the rite of summoning, the group of cultists will compete to become the Great Old One’s right hand and thus avoid being devoured with therest of mankind. \nTo that end, the players have a series of ingredients at their disposal, the combination of which will allow them to conjure spells that they’ll read from the Grimoire. \nBy reading the Grimoire they’ll gain Arcane Knowledge (growing closer to Cthulhu) or new capabilities with which to prove their devotion to Cthulhu and compete with the other cultists for the favour of the Great Old One. \nBut beware! Casting too many spells may awakena curse over the players (using dark powers has its consequences) and it could unexpectedly tip the balance to one side or another. So you will have to use sacrificing strategies and go for it with all you’ve got tobe able to stand victorious. \n-Cthulhu fhtagn! \nComponents \n1 Board \n60 Arcane Knowledge tokens: \n-15 Green tokens \n-15 Red tokens \n-15 Blue tokens \n-15 Yellow tokens \n1 Cthulhu figure \n100 Cards \n-64 Ingredients \n-36 Grimoire cards \n-18 Spells \n-11 Objetcs \n- 7 Curses \nSet up \nFollow these steps to prepare a game of Wake up, Cthulhu! \n1. Place the board in the centre of the table with the Cthulhu figure in the central slot. \n2. Shuffle both card decks separately: the Grimoire (blue back) and the Ingredients (brown back) . Place them face down on opposing sides of the board. \n3. Each player receives 15 Arcane Knowledge tokens of a colour and 7 ingredient cards. The tokens areplaced before him or her forming his or her Arcane Knowledge token reserve. \n4. The Grimoire deck is split randomly into six piles of six cards each. Each pile is placed face down on that same side of the board (opposite the Ingredients decks) . Reveal the first card of each pile, thus revealing the full Grimoire. \nNote: if a Curse is revealed, it must be executed following the rules in the “Curse” section (see further on) . Once the Curse has been resolved, it will be discarded (forming a discard pile for the Grimoire cards next to the Grimoire piles) and the next card of that pile will be revealed. Repeat this process with any Curse that is revealed. \n5. The player with the most bulgy eyes (and therefore with ancestors of the order of Dagon) begins the game. \nDevelopment of the game \nDuring the game players pass the turn clockwise around the table. Once a player has completed his or her turn, it will be the turn of the player to his or her left. \nTurn sequence \nA player must take the following steps to complete his or her turn: \n1) Replenish the hand. \n2) Play an action. \n3) Replenish the Grimoire. \n4) End of the turn. \n1.) Replenish the hand \nThe player draws Ingredient Cards until he or she has 7 Ingredient cards in his or her hand. \nNote: Object Cards aren’t taken into account for this as they are not Ingredient Cards. \n[Frank starts his turn. Since he only has two ingredient \nEN \ncards in his hand, he takes 5 cards from the Ingredients Deck in order to have a total of 7. If he had started the turn with 7 cards, he would have skipped this step.] \n2.) Play an action \nThe player can play any of the following actions: \nA. Conjure a Grimoire card \nB. Advance on Arcane Knowledge \nA. CONJURE \nThe player can combine Ingredients from his or her hand to conjure one of the available Grimoire cards (the revealed one on top of each pile) . To conjure a Grimoire card the player must: \n(1) Discard from his or her hand the Ingredients indicated in the cost of the card (see ca","cbCaimvWKACVUjCJ","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimvWKACVUjCJ","pdf",3584894,"English","# Introduction\n# Components\n# Set up\n# Development of the game\n## Turn sequence\n## Replenish the hand\n## Play an action","[{\"question\":\"How does a player start their turn in Wake up, Cthulhu!?\",\"answer\":\"A player replenishes their hand up to 7 ingredient cards by drawing from the Ingredients Deck, then plays an action, replenishes the Grimoire, and ends the turn.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the two types of Grimoire cards, and how are they handled?\",\"answer\":\"SPELL cards’ effects are resolved immediately and then go to the discard pile.
