charac-teristic pattern of likes anddislikes, which differentiates them fromwomen following other professions.Ascore on the Vocational Interest Testfor Women is a measure of how nearlya woman's interests coincide with thoseof the average woman successfully en-gaged in a given occupation. \nFor the purposes of this test it isassumed that a woman will be moreeffective in her vocational career if sheis engaged in work that she likes thanif she is forced to do a great manythings that she dislikes. As the scalesfor measuring the occupational inter-ests of women have just been finished, there has been no opportunity to estab-lish the above in the case of women. But from surveys made upon men stu-dents at Stanford University and sub-sequent follow-ups it is apparent thatthe general interests of a man will, toa very considerable extent, influencehis choice of a career(28,in Bibliogra-phy,p.16,below). \nThe Vocational Interest Blank must \nbe scored separately for each occupa- \ntion,different scales(stencils)being \nused for this purpose. There are now \navailable the following eighteen scales: \nArtistAuthorDentistHousewifeLawyerLibrarian \nLife Insurance
