VCE is focused more on academic learning rather than vocational training. \nThe VCE certificate is the most direct pathway to University. At the completion of their VCE certificate, students will also receive an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), which is required for University enrollment. \nUnits required for a VCE Certificate \nThe VCE certificate runs over 2 years. Each subjects consists of 4 Units \nUnit 1+2: Typically completed in Year 11 \nUnit 3+4: Typically completed in Year 12 \nStudents must pass a minimum of 16 units in total tobe eligible for a VCE Certificate, including a minimum of 3 units of English or Literature. \nStudents typically select 6 subjects including English, and complete 24 units in total of the course of their VCE. \nSelecting your VCE Program \nEach student must select at least one of either English \nor Literature. \nVET subjects are recognised as part of the VCE program \n\n| | |\n| --- | --- |\n| Some tertiary courses be completed. This wc | require prerequisite subjects to ill be discussed with the careersoordinator. |\n| | |\n\nStudents are encouraged to select their VCE subjects based on areas of personal interest and in consideration of their academic strengths. \nSubject Offerings in VCE \nFurther details on each subject can be found in the course guide \n▪ Art Making and Exhibiting \n▪ Biology \n▪ Business Management \n▪ Chemistry \n▪ English \n▪ General Maths \n▪ Health and Human Development \n▪ History \n▪ Legal Studies \n▪ Literature \n▪ Maths Methods \n▪ Physical Education \n▪ Physics \n▪ Product Design Technology \n▪ Psychology \n▪ Specialist Maths \n▪ Visual Communication Design \n▪ VET-Agriculture \n▪ VET-Cookery \nSubject Acceleration \nStudents in Year 10, have the opportunity to undertake a VCE Unit 1 and 2 subject. This is not compulsory for all students, and is an option that can be discussed further during the students upcoming subjectselection interviews. \nStudents wishing to accelerate a VCE subject should meet the following criteria: \n▪ They must already be demonstrating effective study habits and strong organisational skills \n▪ They must have demonstrated dedication and consistent application in all current studies \n▪ They must demonstrate high standards in their academic result \nWhy Choose an Accelerated Subject? \n▪ Allows students to focus on one subject \n▪ Students are able to prioritise the subject, which increases the likelihood of them doing well. \n▪ Completing an additional subject will increase a students ATAR. \n▪ Allows students to gain experience with VCE assessment processes, and the demands of organising the study requirements for that subject. \nSelecting an Accelerated Subject \nWhen a student selects an accelerated subject, this takes the place of one of their elective blocks each semester. Please note, students must complete a compulsory History and PE subject, one in each semester. \nAccelerated Subjects on Offer \n● Health and Human Development \n● Psychology \n● Business Management \n● Outdoor Environment Studies \n● General Maths \n● VET Agriculture","cbCaicIriO6Sg2JM","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaicIriO6Sg2JM","pdf",2285479,18,"English","# Introduction to VCE\n# Units required for a VCE Certificate\n# Selecting your VCE Program\n# Subject Offerings in VCE\n# Subject Acceleration\n## Selecting an Accelerated Subject\n## Accelerated Subjects on Offer","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the VCE certificate and who is it aimed at?\",\"answer\":\"The VCE certificate is aimed at students whose pathway may lead to tertiary education.
