When he finished, one of his disciples said to him,“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” \n2 He said to them,“When you pray, say: \n“‘Father, \nhallowed be your name, \nyour kingdom come. \n3 Give us each day our daily bread. \n4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. \nAnd lead us not into temptation.’” \nWhy is it so important to pray? \nWho are we talking to when we pray? \nBible study: \nA Psalm is a prayer to God, telling Him about what's happening in your life. \nLook at the following Psalms and think about what was happening to David at the time he wrote them. \nPsalm 3 \n1 Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! \n2 Many are saying of me,“God will not deliver him.”[b] \n3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. \n4 I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. \n5 I lie down and sleep; \nI wake again, because the Lord sustains me. \n6 I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. \n7 Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! \nStrike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. \n8 From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. \nDavid had to leave the city because Absalom was trying to become king. David may have written this while on the run from Absalom. \nIs there a time you’ve been afraid like David was in this Psalm? How did God help you? \nPsalm 30 \n1 I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depthsand did not let my enemies gloat over me. \n2 Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. \n3 You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. \n4 Sing the praises ofthe Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. \n5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; \nweeping may stay for the night, \nbut rejoicing comes in the morning. \n6 When I felt secure, I said,“I will never be shaken.” \n7 Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain[c] stand firm; \nbut when you hid your face, \nI was dismayed. \n8 To you, Lord, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: \n9 “What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? \nWill the dust praise you? \nWill it proclaim your faithfulness? \n10 Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help.” \n11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, \n12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever. \nThis is a Psalm filled with \nWhat are you grateful for? \nCan you write a Psalm of thanksgiving? \nWhat do we learn about David's relationship with God from his Psalms? \nCreate a Psalms prayer journals of your own in which you write down your prayers. You can write prayers asking for help or protection for yourself or others, prayers of thanks, prayers of praise, or prayers for anything you’d like! You can even sing or chant your prayers to music like we do with Psalms! \nWhat do we learn about our relationship to God with our own prayer journal (Psalms)? \nCraft \\#1-Prayer Pail \nAll you need is: \n-large craft sticks (or cleaned popsicle sticks) \n-a bucket (or you can use an empty tin can, flower pot, mason jar...whatever really) \n-scrap paper \n-markers \n-stickers \n-scissors \n-double sided tape \n-ribbon \nStep 1: Cut out a strip of card stock, add the words \"Prayer Pail\" with stickers or a pen, and attach to the front of your bucket with double sided tape. Feel free to decorate the back as well with some stickers, \nverses on prayer or anything else you would like! \nStep 2: Write the names of friends, family and any other people or things you want to be praying for on \nthe craft sticks and pla","cbCaigId4LgJa5eh","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaigId4LgJa5eh","pdf",1034567,7,1,16,"English","en",105,"# Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer\n## Lord’s Prayer (Luke 11)\n## Discussion Questions: Why Pray?
