She was the 5th child of 10. She attended Charles County Public School but later obtained her GED thru Washington, DC.  \nJoyce had many interests which included cooking, puzzle, playing games on the web. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver to many family members, friends and lifelong children she picked up along the way.  \nJoyce is preceded in death by her husband Anthony L. Holmes.  \nJoyce is survived by her two children Charles D Holmes, Jaquay A Holmes (Brandon Edwards Son in Law) and a stepson Anthony L Holmes, Jr. Her brother and sister Audrey Newman, Bertha Newman, Sharron Newman, Leo Newman, Stanley Newman, Darryl Newman, Michael Newman, Gordan Newman, and Donnell Newman (Jayme Lutz Sister in Law) . Her grandchildren Julius Moore, Jr, Brayden Edwards, Avaya Holmes, Donovyn Holmes, Demetrius Hawkins, India Barnes, Quiana Barnes, and Anthony Hawkins.
