The fluorescent lights overhead hummed louder than normal. I inhaled, savoring the rich scent of coffee brewing on the kitchenette counter. \nWyatt would arrive with a smile, giggling over the fact that he thought the fudgy bars in his desk were safe from Janet’s greedy fingers. Orion would barge in, eyes wide as he tried to convince us aliens had infiltrated the government… again. Last to walk in would be Arthur, our fearless leader. Or at least, that was how it had been for the first six months. \nI uncovered the plate of chocolate chip cookies and my grandmother ’s famous double fudge brownies. Each seat at the table got a small plate and a napkin. Unfortunately, we still hadn’t gotten enough chairs for the support staff. I added a few plates and napkins for the newest additions to the morning meeting and made a mental note to bring extra chairs in the future. \n“Hehe.” Right on cue. Wyatt skipped into the break room. The big lug was nothing if not joyous. He pulled out his chair, taking a seat at the table.“Morning, friend Drew.” He added a slight wave in case I didn’t notice his three hundred and fifty pounds of muscle. I’d dare to say our man from another planet was the most human amongst us. \n“I brought your favorite.” He eyed the plate, waiting for permission.“One. You can have one before everybody gets here.” Super speed and \npoof, a double chocolate brownie vanished, and somehow he had it all over his face. \nNext would be— \n“Guys.” Orion, but of course, he’d start with a conspiracy.“The weather balloons are spreading mind-control toxins.” When nobody responded, he plopped himself down in a chair.“Suit yourself. But don’t ask me to save you this time.” I wanted to ask about his latest theory, but we had learned not to encourage him. He gets one conspiracy about a deadly artificial intelligence right, and suddenly, he wants us to chase every lead. \n“Cookie?” He crossed his arms and pouted. He acted as if he didn’t like them. Leaning across the table, I grabbed the plate, sliding it in front of him. “I made them just for you.” I gave him a big smile. Orion wasn’t immune to guilt. \nThe bravado faded as he reached for a cookie.“Just one. I don’t want to hurt your feelings.” I waited as he took a bite. When his eyes rolled back, I knew I had fulfilled my goal for the morning. \nThey’re the oddest co-workers I could have asked for—an alien and a cynic. Navigating them had been difficult at first. We had become workplace friends, and every once in a while we’d moonlight as ","cbCaik0JRIaYwFUv","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaik0JRIaYwFUv","pdf",3402870,207,"English","en",105,"# Chapter 1\n## Morning huddle and secret identities\n## HeroApp™ mission and sponsor negotiation","[{\"question\":\"Who is the narrator and what is the setting at the start of Book 3?\",\"answer\":\"Drew narrates from the breakroom, where the team gathers for a morning huddle under fluorescent lights and familiar routines.\"},{\"question\":\"What technology plays a central role in Vanguard’s mission?\",\"answer\":\"The HeroApp™ is described as the most important technology the heroes create and maintain, giving them an edge against villains.\"},{\"question\":\"What major event drives the urgency in this chapter?\",\"answer\":\"Drew must secure sponsors, including a meeting tied to Carmen LaToya and the Centurions liaison, to advance the team’s long-term goal.\"}]",1785402417,319,{"code":4,"msg":29,"data":30},"ok",{"site_id":23,"language":22,"slug":31,"title":13,"keywords":32,"description":14,"schema_data":33,"social_meta":84,"head_meta":86,"extra_data":88,"updated_unix":26},"unmasked-agent-book-3-ryder-omalley","",{"@graph":34,"@context":83},[35,52,66],{"@type":36,"itemListElement":37},"BreadcrumbList",[38,42,46,49],{"item":39,"name":40,"@type":41,"position":11},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":43,"name":44,"@type":41,"position":45},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":47,"name":12,"@type":41,"position":48},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/story-novel/",3,{"item":50,"name":13,"@type":41,"position":51},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/unmasked-agent-book-3-ryder-omalley/114712/",4,{"url":50,"name":13,"@type":53,"author":54,"headline":13,"publisher":56,"fileFormat":59,"inLanguage":22,"description":14,"dateModified":60,"datePublished":60,"encodingFormat":59,"isAccessibleForFree":61,"interactionStatistic":62},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":55},"Person",{"url":39,"name":57,"@type":58},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-30",true,{"@type":63,"interactionType":64,"userInteractionCount":4},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":65},"ViewAction",{"@type":67,"mainEntity":68},"FAQPage",[69,75,79],{"name":70,"@type":71,"acceptedAnswer":72},"Who is the narrator and what is the setting at the start of Book 3?","Question",{"text":73,"@type":74},"Drew narrates from the breakroom, where the team gathers for a morning huddle under fluorescent lights and familiar routines.","Answer",{"name":76,"@type":71,"acceptedAnswer":77},"What technology plays a central role in Vanguard’s mission?",{"text":78,"@type":74},"The HeroApp™ is described as the most important technology the heroes create and maintain, giving them an edge against villains.",{"name":80,"@type":71,"acceptedAnswer":81},"What major event drives the urgency in this chapter?",{"text":82,"@type":74},"Drew must secure sponsors, including a meeting tied to Carmen LaToya and the Centurions liaison, to advance the team’s long-term goal.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":50,"og:type":85,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":57,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":87,"canonical":50},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":23},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":90},[91,94,98,102,107,112,117,122,127,130,134],{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":92,"slug":93},90,"story-novel",{"id":45,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":95,"show_sort_weight":96,"slug":97},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":51,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":99,"show_sort_weight":100,"slug":101},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":103,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":104,"show_sort_weight":105,"slug":106},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":108,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":109,"show_sort_weight":110,"slug":111},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":113,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":114,"show_sort_weight":115,"slug":116},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":118,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":119,"show_sort_weight":120,"slug":121},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":123,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":124,"show_sort_weight":125,"slug":126},9,"Religion & Spirituality",20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":125,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":128,"show_sort_weight":125,"slug":129},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":131,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":132,"show_sort_weight":131,"slug":133},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":135,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":136,"show_sort_weight":103,"slug":137},19,"General","general"]
