The vast majority of you will make an application to Higher Education through the UCAS system (we ask all students to register with UCAS and begin an application even if you are not sure as this will give you time to research and make a firm decision at a later date). Other routes such as apprenticeships are also popular and you will receive more support with these throughout the year.
This booklet is designed to give you as much guidance as possible. The UCAS site itself is a wealth of information and 2025 applications are now live, so the sooner you start looking and begin your application, the better!
Students can apply to performance based courses through UCAS Conservatoires which is directly linked to the UCAS site and there is information about early entry, Art courses and drama schools in the back of the book.
A note on our UCAS policy at QESixth:
We ask all students to register with UCAS and begin an application, even if you are not sure you want to go to university. This will make things easier if you change your mind later on and mean that your application can be processed promptly in a way that does not
disadvantage you.
Key dates

| 2025 | | May | UCAS Apply 2026 becomes live | |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | | 22nd May | Destinations Day-presentations by external providers inc unis, apprenticeship providers | |
| | | June | PD sessions cover UCAS application, personal statementsand course choice | |
| | | 5th June | Higher Education Information Evening, 6.30-7.30 pm | |
| | | 14th July | First draft of personal statement for early applicants | |
| | | 2nd September | UCAS applications can be sent from this date | |
| | | 24th September | UCAS Fair trip– all Year 13– Edgehill University– TBC | |
| | | 26th September | Personal statement first draft deadline for all applicants | |
| | | 26th September | School deadline for applications to Oxbridge, Medicine, Vet courses and
Dentistry | |
| | | 2nd October | Conservatoire applications must be submitted | |
| | | 10th October | Subject teachers submit UCAS Predicted Grades | |
| | | 15th October | Oxbridge, Medicine, Vet courses,
Dentistry applications must be
submitted to UCAS | |
| | | October half term | Most applications should be complete | |
| | | 1st December | School deadline for all UCAS applications | |
| | | 14th January | Final national UCAS deadline | |
| | | | | |
| 2026 | | Early 2026 on-going | Can apply for student finance | |
| | | February 2026 | UCAS Extra opens | |
| | | 6th May 2026 | Deadline for replying to offers IF all offers received by 31st March | |
| | | 3rd June 2026 | Deadline for replying to offers IF all offers received by 13th | |
| | | | May | 4 |
| | | 13th August 2026(TBC) | Results Day: places confirmed via email; Clearing opens | |
| | | | | |

The UCAS HUB
Using the online application [system:](system: www.ucas.com)[ www.ucas.com](system: www.ucas.com)
NB This site also gives options to find a course, submit your application and track your offers
Select Sign in from the dropdown menu.
Use your school email...we will keep it active for the whole process.
