These fruits and vegetable are not required for this recipe to be balanced-so if you have a picky dog you can omit them. \nHowever it's important to note that fruits and vegetables provide our dogs with powerful antioxidants and phyto nutrients which can support their immune system and various organ functions. So if your dog will eat them pureed or chopped finely mixed into this recipe I would recommend doing so. \nMost dogs do well with lightly steamed or boiled vegetables, and raw fruits. However, this isnot a \"hard and fast\" rule. You can give raw vegetables-just monitor your dog's stools, and if they don't tolerate larger pieces OR do not like them-puree them in a food processor and mix into their food. There are benefits to both raw and cooked fruits/vegetables-some antioxidants are more bioavailable cooked, others are more bioavailable raw. \nMACRONUTRIENT BREAKDOWN: \nThese values are on a caloric basis \nTHE CANINE HEALTH NUT 2022 PAGE 1 \nFormulated for Adult Maintance \nINGREDIENTS: \n85/15 Ground Turkey Fat Free Ground Turkey \nTurkey Liver Salmon Oysters Quinoa \nFruits & Vegetables \nNordic Naturals Omega 3 Pet NOW Calcium Carbonate \nNOW Kelp \nPERCENT CALORIE: \nProtein: 41% \nFat: 34% \nCarbohydrate: 25% \nDRY MATTER: \nProtein: 48% \nFat: 18% \nCarbohydrate: 33% \nTHE CANINE HEALTH NUT 2021 PAGE 1 \nFormulated for Adult Maintance \nORIGINAL BALANCEIT RECIPE: \nBelow is the original recipe created in BalanceIT for your information. Along with the full \nnutritional breakdown. To this recipe you can add 60 grams of pet-safe fruits and vegetables. \nTHE CANINE HEALTH NUT 2021 PAGE 5 \nFormulated for Adult Maintance \nCOOKING INSTRUCTIONS: \nStart by cooking your Quinoa-you can do this in a rice cooker or on the stove top. Start with approximately 1/2 cup dry quinoa, and 1 cup water. If using a rice-cooker use the \"brown rice\"setting or individual instructions for quinoa on your rice-cooker. If using the stove top, use a medium saucepan with a lid. Pour quinoa and water together into the pan and bring to a slow boil, once boiling reduce to low, cover with lid and allow to cook for 15-20 minutes until water is completely absorbed. \nIf using fresh raw salmon-preheat over to 350 degrees and bake for 10-15 minutes until cooked through and no longer bright pink. If using canned salmon skip this step. \nWhile quinoa is cooking it's time to cook your meats! Using a large cast-iron skillet start by panbrowning your 99% lean ground turkey (do not add oil to skillet to keep from sticking- if you need to add a small amount of water) . Once that is cooked, set aside in a large bowl to cool in your fridge. Next pan-brown your 85% lean ground turkey, and after cooked set aside ina large bowl to cool. Finally using the same cast-iron skillet pan-brown your turkey liver, flipping once until cooked through, after cooked chop/ puree into bite-size pieces and allow to cool in the fridge. \nNote that this recipe is measured in cooked weight, not raw weight. I highly suggest starting with slightly more than you will need for the recipe. This reason for this is that meat will loose some water weight when cooking. I would cook 5 oz raw 99% lean, and5 oz 85% lean ground turkey, along with 3.5 oz turkey liver for this recipe. \nAfter quinoa is done, place in the fridge to cool completely while you prep out your other ingredients. \nIf using canned salmon instead of fresh raw salmon-choose a boneless, skinless option without added salt. Simply drain of water, and set aside to measure. \nFor the canned eastern oysters-choose canned in water. Drain and rinse well, then set aside to measure. \nIf you are adding in fresh fruits and vegetables choose up to 60g of dog-safe options from the next page. Chop or puree into bite-sized pieces for the recipe. \nOnce everythi","cbCaif9UBmvFfJum","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaif9UBmvFfJum","pdf",17314013,"English","# Overview\n# Macronutrient Breakdown\n# Ingredients\n# Cooking Instructions\n# Fruit & Vegetable Options\n# Assembling the Recipe","[{\"question\":\"Is the fruit and vegetable rotation required for the recipe to be balanced?\",\"answer\":\"No. The recipe is complete and balanced for adult dogs even without the fruits and vegetables listed, so they can be omitted for picky dogs.\"},{\"question\":\"How should vegetables and fruits be prepared in this recipe?\",\"answer\":\"The document suggests lightly steamed or boiled vegetables and raw fruits, but notes this is not a strict rule.
