Take the courses you need to get Math 30-3. This will help you in the long run as the entrance exam to start a trade is very hard. \nApprenticeship also requires: \nYou must find suitable employment with an employer who is a journeyman or employs a journeyman in the trade of your choice. Once employed, you and your employer must sign apprenticeship application forms. These forms are available from the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) regional offices. \nIf you think you have related work experience and/or training which could be credited toward your apprenticeship, discuss it with your employer and request credit on the application form. \nOnce your apprenticeship application is approved and your school transcripts or entrance exam marks are recorded, final approval is given and contracts are drawn up. \nGraduation Requirements \nAn Alberta Journeyman Certificate is granted to apprentices who: \nComplete the required hours of on-the-job training and receives a satisfactory report from the supervisor Successfully complete the formal instruction \nPasses all required examinations \nHas forwarded his/her record book to the Career Development Centre, AIT for completion \nWhen apprentices receive an Alberta Journeyman Certificate, they can use the term certified with the name of the trade. They should also be paid journeyman wages. \nRED SEAL: \nA Red Seal shows that you have successfully completed an inter provincial standards exam. You’ll get a distinctive red seal to attach to your journeyman certificate. \nThis means you will be able to work anywhere in Canada without having to write another province’s trade exam. \nThe Red Seal Program was created in 1952. It encourages the standardization of apprenticeship training and certification programs across Canada. A national occupational analysis of each of the 56 Red Seal trade is used as a base document for inter provincial exams and is encouraged for use in curriculum development. \nThe Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) administers the program. Currently the CCDA is working on harmonizing 30 Red Seal trades by 2020. \nFor more information, check the Red Seal Website [http://www.red-seal.ca/w.2lc.4m.2-eng.html](http://www.red-seal.ca/w.2lc.4m.2-eng.html) Exams, samples questions, and individual trade standards are included. \nLakeland also offers prep courses for red seal exams for anyone who hasn’t achieved their red seal status. Check continuing education for those courses. \nBLUE SEAL: \nBlue Seal program is the common name for the Achievement in Business Competencies Program. This program was established by Alberta Apprenticeship to encourage journeymen who go on to study business \nIf you have a valid Alberta Journeyman Certificate, you are eligible to receive a Blue Seal business certificate after completing 150 hours of study in an approved business program. \nThe Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board established the Achievement in Business Competencies Program, It both encourages and recognizes business studies by anyone who is already certified in an Alberta designated trade or occupation. \nThose business studies can be taken at Lakeland College. \nComplete details are available on the Blue Seal website: \nBusiness Competencies (Blue Seal) Program \nRed Seal Program","cbCaibwU9IWeAj0t","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibwU9IWeAj0t","pdf",147483,"English","# Apprenticeship entry paths\n# Apprenticeship requirements and approval\n# Graduation requirements: Alberta Journeyman Certificate\n# Red Seal program\n# Blue Seal program","[{\"question\":\"What is the Recommended Path for entering a trade apprenticeship?\",\"answer\":\"The Recommended Path includes English 30-2, Math 30-3, and Physics 30, Chemistry 30, or Science 30, along with related CTS courses.
