And while the content in Updated TPS 6e aligns well with the CEDon a unit level, the arrangement of the content within units deviated somewhat from the order of topics in the CED. Consequently, some users have found it difficult to use the Progress Checks, AP Daily videos, and Topic Questions that follow the strict ordering of the CED. Furthermore, the alignment between Updated TPS 6e and the CED was not transparent, as Updated TPS 6e was divided into 12 chapters while the CED was divided into 9 units. \nThe bookʼs website ([bfwpub.com/tps7e](bfwpub.com/tps7e)) has a lot of useful information about the new edition, but we want to highlight some important goals of TPS 7e here. These goals show how we capitalized on what we have learned since 2019 to address the concerns above, as well as describe many other new and continuing features that set TPS apart from its competitors. \n● Sharpen Alignment to t he AP Statistics CED andAP Classroom Resources. The 7th edition of TPS perfectly aligns with the College Board ʼs Course and Exam Description (CED) for AP Statistics. The nine units in the CED correspond exactly with the nine units in TPS 7e, with longer units broken into two parts. This alignment makes it easy for teachers and students to know exactly where to look for resources in AP Classroom. Furthermore, the order of topics within units is also very tightly aligned to the CED, making it easy to use AP Daily videos, Topic Questions, and Progress Checks during the unit. Here are several examples of the many ways we sharpened the alignment: \n○ In Updated TPS 6e, Chapters 8 and 9 present confidence intervals for a proportion, confidence intervals for a difference in proportions, significance tests for a proportion, and significance tests for a difference in proportions, in that order. In TPS 7e, Unit 6 ( Parts I and II) present these topics in the order specified by the CED: confidence intervals for a proportion, significance tests for a proportion, confidence intervals for a difference in proportions, and significance tests for a difference in proportions. Similar changes were made to the inference topics in Unit 7. \n○ Relationships between two categorical variables were shiȦed from Chapter \n1 to Unit 2, to match their placement in the CED. Likewise, normal random variables were shiȦed from Chapter 6 to Unit 5. \nAP® is a trademark registered by the College Board, which is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, this product. \n○ In TPS 7e we use exactly the same notation as on the formula sheet provided on both sections of t he AP exam. For example, we use rather than for the standard error of the sampling distribution of the sample mean. \n● Make the Structure within Sections More Transparent. In the 7th edition, wereorganized every section so that each Learning Target has a single corresponding subsection, each subsection has an example addressing the Learning Target, and each example leads to a very similar exercise (which has a back reference to the example) . In the Section Exercises, we added headings corresponding to the Learning Targets to make it easier for teachers to create assignments. \n● Provide AP-Style Model Solutions in the Examples. Speaking of examples, in TPS 7e, all of the examples are written in problem/solution format, giving students examples of solutions that are closely modeled aȦer current (2021 and later) APexam scoring guidelines. Furthermore, in each of these examples, the voice of the teacher and the voice of the student have been separated with model student solutions in handwritten font and teacher talk in separate dialogue boxes to the right side of the student solution. All of the examples and linked exercises have free, student-facing videos where an expe","cbCaivMNClWjPFoK","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivMNClWjPFoK","pdf",110069,"English","# TPS 7e vs. Updated TPS 6e\n## Sharpen alignment to the AP Statistics CED and AP Classroom resources\n## Make section structure more transparent\n## Provide AP-style model solutions in the examples\n## Assist with planning and pacing\n## Promote active learning\n## Promote success on the AP exam","[{\"question\":\"What problem does the document say users had with Updated TPS 6e?\",\"answer\":\"Updated TPS 6e’s chapter topic order did not follow the CED’s order, making it harder to use Progress Checks, AP Daily videos, and Topic Questions.
