Since 1884, the Tonkawa have resided in northern Oklahoma near the Ponca, numbering approximately 1,300 today. The tribe's flag is royal blue, featuring the Tonkawa seal in the center, with \"TONKAWA TRIBE\" emblazoned in white across the top and \"OKLAHOMA\" similarly displayed at the bottom. The seal represents the \"circle of life,\" divided horizontally into white on the top and red below. A stylized \"Peyote Spirit Bird,\" which has served as the Tonkawa's logo in various forms, points upward at the center, bisected vertically with pink on the left and blue on the right. Behind the bird is a peace pipe with a brown mouthpiece, black bowl, brown stem, and a stem adorned with blue, yellow, and red beadwork. A yellow sun with ten rays rises above the bird's head, accompanied by a thin red crescent moon with points facing downward.
