allits future activities.  \nThe famous East India Company,begin-ning as a stock corporation of traders andmerchants in the Sixteenth Century,suc-ceeded in winning an Empire for GreatBritain and fortunes for its investors.Thereis a valuable lesson in the history of theEnglish East India Company which we can-not afford to ignore.Holding firmly to thesolid foundation of business enterprise,thisunique joint stock company resolved to in-clude in its program political power as abulwark and defence for its economic in-terests.Its extraordinary success was dueto the fact that in
