The report encourages implementation measures for clearer scoping, improved internal systems to manage convening activities, and stronger links between global and country work.","Public Disclosure Authorized Public Disclosure Authorized  \nThe World's Bank: An Evaluation of the World Bank Group’s Global Convening  \nReport to the Board from the  \nCommittee on Development Effectiveness ∗  \nMeeting of March 4, 2020  \nThe Committee on Development Effectiveness (CODE) (“the Committee”) met to consider thereport entitled The World's Bank: An Evaluation of the World Bank Group’s Global Convening (CODE2020-0006) and Management’s Response (CODE2020-0009) .  \nThe Committee commended IEG’s first evaluation of the World Bank Group’s (WBG) Global Convening, as a valuable learning tool and timely input to inform the Knowledge Management agenda, Trust Funds & Financial Intermediary Funds reforms, and the discussions on Outcome Orientation. Members welcomed the evaluation’s finding that the WBG’s reputation and unique strengths give it strong convening power to meet the demands of partners and shareholders and to stay highly relevant as a global actor. Members appreciated Management’s broad agreement with the evaluation’s findings and recommendations, and encouraged Management to put in place measures that translate the evaluation’s recommendations into actions to (i) ensure more deliberate scoping when engaging in major convening activities,(ii) enhance internal systems and processes to better manage the major convening activities, and (iii) improve the links between the World Bank's global and country work.  \nMembers were pleased to learn about IFC’s focused convening role with Development Finance Institutions (DFI) and market players around the role of private sector solutions to create sustainable development impact, closely linked to IFC’s expertise and with the objective of engaging others in IFC’s Creating Markets strategy and the goals to mobilize capital. They appreciated World Bank’s (WB) Management acknowledging that there were lessons to be drawn from IFC’s deliberate approach to convening activities.
