Kibah hadjust completed primary school when the father died. Poor Nendoh was now a widow, with a young son to raise. She sacrificed every little thing to further the education of her son, Kibah, to the extent of selling all the land surrounding their residence. \nHaving acquired a high level of education, Kibah left the village and was fortunate to have a lucrative job, but he didn’t care to inform his poor mother of his good fortune. Meanwhile, at home, his mother kept praying for him to have something todo. But Kiban was living in luxury, and was extravagantly spending his earnings on his friends who kept exploiting him at drinking parlours. \nAn indigene named Nchibe, who knew both Kibah and his mother, Nendoh, the widow of Shishi, from his home village, happened to be living in the same city where Kibah was living. Nchibo went his village to fellowship with his relatives and was shocked to see Nendoh, Kibah’s mother, living in such a miserable state. \nVery upset with what he noticed of this poor mother whose son was living extravagantly in luxury, he took the time torecount the son’s situation and deeds to her. She was embarrassed to tell Nchibo that she never tired of praying that the son should have something to do. Having been abandoned at home for so long, she was always trying to know about Kibahand when she attempted to ask for a little assistance from Kibah, he would always say that things were hard. \nUpon leaving to go back to the city from the village, Nchibo sacrificed to take Nendoh, Kibah’s mother, with him, so that she could go and see for herself the state and attitude of her son. When they arrived in the city, he kept Nendoh in his house and made sure that Kibah would not have any idea she was there. Nchibo connived with Nendoh about what should be done concerning her son. \nThe following day, early in the morning, Nchibo went and met with the proprietor of Kibah’s regular drinking spot. \nNchibo gave him a token and pleaded him to do him a favour. He told the proprietor about how he had gone home and had seen the mother of one of the proprietor’s regular customers, Kibah, in a very desperate state and her son didn’t care; \ninstead, he was always telling his mother that things are hard. Nchibo told the proprietor that he has brought the poor mother from the village and wishes that the proprietor would hide her behind his counter, so that she can embarrass her son when he comes and sits with friends feasting as usual. The proprietor accepted the plan. So Nchibo brought Nendoh to the drinking parlour and the proprietor hid her behind his counter. \nAt his usual time, Kibah arrived at the drinking spot, where Nchibo had been earlier, and was received by his regular exploitive friends. Getting a seat at an empty table, Kibah immediately ordered two drinks for him, his three friends and a harlot, along with some roasted meat. Just when Kibah and friends were about to receive their second round of drinks, Kibah got a call on his phone. \nHe stepped out of the noisy spot to answer the call. It was Nendoh, his mother, calling him. Kibah answered and asked her about herself and the village. His mother said that everything was fine in the vil","cbCaittMWxzcoGVA","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaittMWxzcoGVA","pdf",701173,18,"English","en",105,"# Story overview\n## Nendoh’s sacrifice and Kibah’s neglect\n## Nchibo’s intervention and the confrontation plan\n## Kibah’s response and commitment to help","[{\"question\":\"Why does Nendoh sell the land around their residence?\",\"answer\":\"She sacrifices everything to support Kibah’s education after her husband dies, selling all the land surrounding their home to further his schooling.\"},{\"question\":\"What does Kibah do after getting a lucrative job?\",\"answer\":\"Kibah enjoys a comfortable life but does not inform his mother, and he spends his earnings extravagantly with friends who exploit him.\"},{\"question\":\"How does Nchibo help Nendoh reach Kibah?\",\"answer\":\"Nchibo brings Nendoh to the city, hides her behind the drinking-spot counter, and arranges for her to embarrass Kibah when he comes to join his friends.\"}]",1784318213,28,{"code":4,"msg":29,"data":30},"ok",{"site_id":23,"language":22,"slug":31,"title":13,"keywords":32,"description":14,"schema_data":33,"social_meta":85,"head_meta":87,"extra_data":89,"updated_unix":26},"the-widow-nendoh-and-her-son-kibah-short-story","",{"@graph":34,"@context":84},[35,52,67],{"@type":36,"itemListElement":37},"BreadcrumbList",[38,42,46,49],{"item":39,"name":40,"@type":41,"position":11},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",{"item":43,"name":44,"@type":41,"position":45},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":47,"name":12,"@type":41,"position":48},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/story-novel/",3,{"item":50,"name":13,"@type":41,"position":51},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/the-widow-nendoh-and-her-son-kibah-short-story/92524/",4,{"url":50,"name":13,"@type":53,"author":54,"headline":13,"publisher":56,"fileFormat":59,"inLanguage":22,"description":14,"dateModified":60,"datePublished":61,"encodingFormat":59,"isAccessibleForFree":62,"interactionStatistic":63},"DigitalDocument",{"name":9,"@type":55},"Person",{"url":39,"name":57,"@type":58},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-07-22","2026-07-17",true,{"@type":64,"interactionType":65,"userInteractionCount":11},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":66},"ViewAction",{"@type":68,"mainEntity":69},"FAQPage",[70,76,80],{"name":71,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":73},"Why does Nendoh sell the land around their residence?","Question",{"text":74,"@type":75},"She sacrifices everything to support Kibah’s education after her husband dies, selling all the land surrounding their home to further his schooling.","Answer",{"name":77,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":78},"What does Kibah do after getting a lucrative job?",{"text":79,"@type":75},"Kibah enjoys a comfortable life but does not inform his mother, and he spends his earnings extravagantly with friends who exploit him.",{"name":81,"@type":72,"acceptedAnswer":82},"How does Nchibo help Nendoh reach Kibah?",{"text":83,"@type":75},"Nchibo brings Nendoh to the city, hides her behind the drinking-spot counter, and arranges for her to embarrass Kibah when he comes to join his friends.","https://schema.org",{"og:url":50,"og:type":86,"og:title":13,"og:site_name":57,"og:description":14},"article",{"robots":88,"canonical":50},"index,follow",{"doc_id":7,"site_id":23},{"code":4,"msg":5,"data":91},[92,95,99,103,108,113,118,123,128,131,135],{"id":11,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":12,"show_sort_weight":93,"slug":94},90,"story-novel",{"id":45,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":96,"show_sort_weight":97,"slug":98},"Literature",80,"literature",{"id":51,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":100,"show_sort_weight":101,"slug":102},"Exam",70,"exam",{"id":104,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":105,"show_sort_weight":106,"slug":107},5,"Comic",60,"comic",{"id":109,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":110,"show_sort_weight":111,"slug":112},6,"Technology",50,"technology",{"id":114,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":115,"show_sort_weight":116,"slug":117},7,"Healthcare",40,"healthcare",{"id":119,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":120,"show_sort_weight":121,"slug":122},8,"Research & Report",30,"research-report",{"id":124,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":125,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":127},9,"Religion & Spirituality",20,"religion-spirituality",{"id":126,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":129,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":130},"World Cup","world-cup",{"id":132,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":133,"show_sort_weight":132,"slug":134},10,"Lifestyle","lifestyle",{"id":136,"doc_module":4,"doc_module_name":44,"category_name":137,"show_sort_weight":104,"slug":138},19,"General","general"]
