It is a very fine house, but not as good as the chief’s new house. It has metal doors and a zinc roof and they have painted it white.  \nWhy have they come to our village? Maybe they will build big houses for all of us.  \nThe white men are not very clever. They built a latrine hut made of cement and mud-block, but when the rains started it sank into the ground. So then they built a new one made of wood!  \nWhy have they come to our village? Maybe they want to learn how to build things better.  \nThe white men say they are not married. The two of them live alone and they have no-one to cook food for them.  \nWhy have they come to our village? Maybe they are looking for wives.  \nOften the white men eat the same food as us. We thought they would only eat their own food but they say they like what we eat.  \nWhy have they come to our village? Maybe they don’t like the food in their own country.  \nThe white men must have lots of money. We thought they would bring a generator but they haven’t. They live like we do, with only kerosene lamps for light.  \nWhy have they come to our village? Maybe they like kerosene lamps.  \nThe white men don’t seem to do much work.
