disciples,orfollowers of Jesus,were sent ahead with instructions to bless thetowns,to heal the people and to perform miracles in Jesus'name.According to Luke 10:17-19,the people returned with joy saying\"Lord,even demons submit to us in your name\".Jesus replied,\"1saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.I have given youauthority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome allthe power of the enemy;nothing will harm you.\"Luke 10:19 NIV  \nCould it be that Jesus responded to his disciples this way becausewhen they returned He saw they had more joy in witnessing,orseeing demons submit to them in the name of Jesus,rather thanthem having joy in being sent by the one the demons weresubmitting to?In verse 19 NIV version,Jesus tells his disciples hehas given them authority to trample on scorpions and snakes.Ibelieve Jesus was using a metaphor by describing the type ofpeople his disciples would approach in ministry.If you think aboutit,your approach to killing a scorpion or a snake is going to bedifferent than your approach in killing a roach or an ant.Mostpeople don't hesitate to kill a roach or an ant because they arecommon household bugs.We take precaution in our approach tokill a scorpion or snake when we become aware of the dangerthat is posed by a scorpion's sting or the poison in a snake bite.Our approach to homosexuality could be similar to this metaphor.
